Utilities to support the proposed expansion will be connected to the existing College systems. The utilities are described below: Sanitary Sewer: The proposed expansion will connect to the existing 8" sewer main that services portions of the existing building. This main flows in a southerly direction to an existing campus pump station. Effluent from station is pumped in a northerly direction,around the west side of the Volpe Center to the gravity line from the campus that connects to the municipal main in Turnpike Street. The project is expected to generate 9,327 gallons per day based on DEP rates(see attached spreadsheet). Water: The proposed expansion will be fed from the existing domestic connection to the Volpe Center.This 6"line from Turnpike Street connects to the middle of the northern side of the existing building. Estimated water demand for the expansion is 10,260 gallons per day based on a 10% increase over the sewer flows to account for non-consumptive uses. Fire Protection: The Fire Protection feed for the Volpe Center will continue to be from Andover. The feed is of a 12" main on the west side of the building. Electric and Telecommunications: Electric and telecommunication feeds to the building will be from the existing campus systems on the west side of the building. The telecommunication duct banks will be relocated outside the limits of the expansion.
