120 Main Street Re: Minicucci Driveway
North Andover, Mass.
Dear Bill;
1 have just received the plan from Charles E. Cyr
Engineering at 3:45 p.m. on July 79 19808 This makes it not
only extremely difficult to respond in writing to the board
it also cost the applicant more money because the commmnications
between myself and Mr. Minicucci were not clearly presented by
the engineer. Changes on the plan will be required if the board
choosed to follow my recommendations.
1 recommend that the trough across the driveway be 12" wide
instead of 8" as shown. Grating to be heavy duty prepainted steel
with bars running parallel with driveway. Catch basin to be
standard reinforced concrete 4 foot basin unit with cone top
and standard frame and grate. Reinforcing rods to be used in
concrete trough.
Existing 8" drain line to be replaced with 12" reinforced
concrete pipe with a minimum 30" of cover over pipe.
Twelve inch pipe to be extended 121 into a stone tapered
and flared head wall to receive all drainage directed to swale
from the hill.
If this is done properly it should elimi-nate any drainage
problems that may exist and also protect the problem in a
permanent manner.
Very truly yours,
William A. Cyr

Dear Mr. Chairman,
As per our conversation on Saturday morning at
property located on Great Pond Road, we submit the following information
for the Boards Review,
Profile cross-sections showing driveway west side
of proposed dwelling and east side of dwelling. Both profiles indicate
existing and proposed grades as well as the final slope gradient.
It is our recommendation to the Board that the
only consideration should be the westerly driveway as shown on previously
submitted plan. drawn by our firm and dated March 1980. Our recommendation
is only after carefully scrutinization and applying solid engineering
practices. We cannot recommend and alternate or modification to our plan
without adversely effecting the natural drainage of this property. The
westerly drive scheme when implemented will cause or have no adverse
drainage or effect on land now owned by William Driscoll. If the easterly
driveway scheme were utilized besides an impossible slope of 12.6% (Percent)
it would act as a drainage way because of abrupt intersection to the
existing grades. This scheme would direct surface water right to Great
Pond Road and in the winter months cause some icying in the roadway area.

In answer to previous questions requested by the
Board relative to erosion control, it is our opinion that staked hay bales
placed on the edge of the disturbed area will be sufficient to prevent
siltation or erosion of or to the undisturbed area. These bales will be
properly maintained throughout the project,
Yours truly,
w .

re : lot I Great Pond Road
Dear Rill :
Regarding the proposed driveway for the above captioned lot ,
the Board of 7ublic Works has reviewed the latest plan and
suggest the driveway be constructed to enter the left side of the
proposed dwelling as shown. The existing topography of this lot
would dictate this location in order to minimize runoff during
construction into the lake .
Very truly yours ,

Re.- Minicuccl. Plot Plan
Dear Bill.-
I have gone over this plan and. l am also familar°
with -the existing dr°°ivew,,y
My main conc ern is not to create a situation worse
°than wh .°tiro have there lread.y, which consists of snow
removal.1. nd. ice control. problem.
The existing driveways have caused. problems to this
department in the past, and when you consider the amount
of traffic on this road, it makes a real l d. n r^ou i°t-
radon.
I notice on -the plan what appears to be a catch
basin in the center of the intersection of old and, pro-
posed new driveway. it proposed to put drainage to
000modato any added water?
I will. be at your meeting this evening -to discuss
this matter more thoroughly.
Very truly yours,
