Grant held a meeting with Jack Sullivan, Engineer for the owner and the contractor Proposal is to increase the room number of a private home to 11 rooms.The septic system was sized at 150 gallons per day/bedroom x 4= 600 gpd Current Title V interpretation state that this system is properly sized for a 5 bedroom or 11 room home at the current rate of 110 gal x 5 it would need a flow rate of 550 gpd. Hence it is ok at 600 gpd Conclusion; no need for a deed restriction Discussion about distance from new wall to leach area; S. Sawyer will inquire with DEP about the ability to reduce this distance. Otherwise the new section should be on a slab. Waiting for response from DEP Title v was completed.The 35 year old system conditionally passed. Needs a d-box. The tank will be replaced and relocated to accommodate the building addition. Noted that the building sewer (foundation to tank)should be as close to straight as possible or have a clean out. The report noted a garbage grinder present. Highly recommended to remove appliance,which will prematurely cause failure to the septic system.
