For detailed information regarding existing site topography and proposed construction, refer to the Proposed Site Plan and Detail sheets, prepared by Marchionda and Associates and revised October 31, 1997. PROJECT INFORMATION The proposed project consists of the construction of a 2400 s.f single story building and associated paved parking and vehicle maneuvering areas. In order to mitigate any possible increase in peak stormwater flow from the site, two stormwater detention basins are proposed. Two stormwater recharge structures which receive rooftop runoff are proposed in order to provided some additional infiltration to the groundwater. In the hydrologic modeling, rooftop runoff is routed through proposed detention basin #1 and no credit has been taken for stormwater recharge. MWIHODOLOGY The hydrologic analysis begins with the determination of a study point and delineation of an area which drains to the study point. If necessary for analysis, the study area is divided into subcatchment areas. Using watershed modeling techniques outlined in Section 4 of the Soil Conservation Service (S.C.S.) National Engineering Handbook and methods established in Technical Releases 20 and 55, peak stormwater discharge is determined at the study point for 2, 10 and 100 year Type-III 24-hour storm events (which produce 3.1, 4.6 and 6.5 inches of rainfall, respectively). The analysis of the study area is repeated for post-development conditions and a stormwater management system is designed to assure that existing conditions peak flows are not exceeded for any of the design storm events. Figures 2 and 3 depict the subcatchment areas for pre-development and post-development conditions, respectively. CONCLUSION In order to control peak rates of stormwater disharge to the study point, detention basins with an appropriately designed outlet structure are proposed. The outlet structures have been designed to be only as hydraulically restrictive as required to maintain peak stormwater flows at existing levels. An overly restrictive outlet is more likely to clog and therefore require frequent maintenance. The analyses indicate that the proposed detention basins and outlet structures are effective and this development will not cause an increase in peak stormwater flows at the study point for the design storms. Presented below is a sumunary of the peak runoff discharges at the study point.
