AGENDA ITEM: A. Discussion on Department Heads Meeting
Discussion: -BO stated that Town Manager said that he will handle budget he is going to create
budget from what dept heads turn into him and he will negotiate that budget with
them to fit his desires. He will defend dept head budgets from that point on.
PB our charter says we are allowed to talk to people.
AL thoughts on when I call him (Town manager) and say our expectations are to be
able to talk to dept heads to approve budget.
SG Suggests Fincom
TD Agrees with AL this is how we do our budget talks and we like to sit with the dept
heads to discuss their budgets.
BO feels we are only going to hear town managers side of budget.
AL will talk to town manager and suggest that we really want to speak with dept heads.
BO Charter says we can get any information we want.
AL We found it very useful to talk to the dept heads and get their wish lists and ask
question.
MR. I think it is important to discuss with dept heads we all have different views and
different opinions.
PB Does school Dept fall under this budget?
CA Would also like to know if he is encompassing School into one budget.
BO our job is to find out from dept heads and find out their budget and why they
need it we report to the towns people not the town manager.
AL will call Town Manager tomorrow (Jan14th) and send everyone an email on what
was said. I will let him know that we understand it is his budget but Fincom has a
responsibility to the town to review and question.
