3)Movietime
A.The first hour of the meeting was spent viewinga film entitled
“Kilowatt Ours” courtesy of Steve Daly. Snacks and
refreshments were supplied by Steve and Keith. Very nice. The
first half of the film was somewhat Al Gore-esque, but the
second half provided a lot of good information on saving money
along with helping the environment. A discussion followed on
ways to use the film to get the message out to the community.
The schools seemed like the first best opportunity which, of
course, will have to wait for the fall. Steve will review two
shorter versions of the film to see if perhaps they can be of use.
I for one can’t get too alarmed over the fact that there is haze in
the Great Smoky Mountains. That’s how they got their name.
4)OldBusiness
A.Now somewhere along in here it was discovered that no one was
recording the minutes. I gallantly volunteered. So if I have
missed something---well.
B.There was a brief discussion of the Yard Sale. Steve is handling
the information for cable, will forward a short write to Lisa for
the school newsletters, and to Martha to get into the newspapers.
Martha, since she wasn’t at the meeting, gets to call the
participants.\[really?\]Tina agreed to send the “Call to Sellers” to
her resident distribution list.
C.Phil brought out the signs which we have purchased through a
grant for the “Anti Idling” campaign. We have NO IDLING
signs and 5 MINUTE IDLING signs. Again it was decided that
the schools would be the best place to start(for the children)
with the Sargent School being the pilot. There was some
question as to how to get the signs physically placed. Lisa
agreed to survey each school and to come up with a proposal.
Lisa and Phil will be working with the School Department with
the goal of having all signs installed before the school year
begins.
D.On the Multi-Family front: Bruce and Keith are arranging
meetings with the three complexes that are the first wave: Royal
Crest, Brookside, and Village Green. Each property will be
assessed separately to determine the best collection method
(dumpsters or toters). A big breakthrough is the fact that
Northside Carting has agreed to pick up toters at the individual
unitswhen Millpondjoins the program. That should help
immensely.Bruce will be mailing a letter announcing the
recycling opportunity to all property management contacts.

5)It was decided that we should have the July meeting on the 2so that we can
figure out what we aredoing on the Common over the holiday.
