April 3, 2008, 7:00PM
North Andover Library Meeting Room
Attendees: Tina Klein, Chair; Bruce Thibodeau, DPW Director; Norm Bagley;
Pete Murley, Debbie Eaton; Susan Seaquist Almono; Lisa Conti, Karen Kline,
Judy Walker, Martha Mittelstaedt; and Steve Parkes
Call to Order and confirm minute recorder

Talked about the four signs for household hazardous waste day

Earth Day clean up –Rain or shine 8:30-3:30. Norm is leading the May 3activity.
About 200 residents per year participate.
We need resident count to figure out how many bags to purchase. We ran out by

10:30am last year and don’t want that to happen again. Resident count is not as important for
the snacks. Whole foods will donate the snacks, Norm and Steve will coordinate pickup and
delivery. Will order 400, 30-40 gallon, 2.5 to 3 mil bags; we have enough gloves left over from
previous years.
School Athletic organization doing own pickup of the high school fields this weekend, so

we can mark off our list.
Mass Highway is responsible to state roads (e.g., Route 125 and 114) but we may want to

assign people to these roads anyway because they are highly visible.
Call Tina for curbside pick-up by 3:00 on Saturday.

Committee Charter postponed till next meeting
TBI had some trouble with permits, meeting with lawyers and are now close to an

The next edition of One Persons Trash will be coordinated by Karen. It will be
published the first week of July, due in June. Articles to be included are:
Alternative energy sources (solar, wind turbines, etc.). A local contractor who did the

work at Smolak (Nextgen) might be a good resource. –Karen provided this information.
Showcase some North Andover residents who are using this technology.

Provide some options for residents to take advantage of some affordable alternative

Clean energy choices. You buy kilowatts, MA collaborative matches up to 70% (goes
into a community kitty for renewable energy source use) plus you are eligible for a tax credit
(75% deduction)

Coordinators are needed for multi-family and public space recycling efforts.
