Construction of a Screened Porch
Conservation Conditions of Approval,NACC #21
On September 19, 2006 a small project review (section 4.4(K) of the North Andover Wetland
Regulations) by Mr. & Mrs. Peter Sullivan (homeowners) of 47 Boxford Street, North Andover. The
proposed work includes constricting a 12'x20' (240s.0 screened porch attached to an existing single-
family house within the Buffer Zone to an adjacent Bordering Vegetated Wetland (BVW). The
screened porch will be built on 6 sonotubes approximately 84' from the wetland resource area, at its
closest point and shown on the attached sketch. All constriction activities will be conducted within
existing lawn and will be performed by hand.
During the September 27, 2006 public meeting, the North Andover Conservation Commission
(NACC) voted unanimously (4-0 vote) to issue a small projects approval for the construction of the
screened porch at 47 Boxford Street, North Andover.
This permit is being issued to the being issued the property owner, who is ultimately responsible
for the actions and / or work performed at the above referenced property. As the property
owner, you must ensure that all of the requirements outlined in these documents are adhered to.
Failure to comply with the requirements outlined in this permit will result in future enforcement
action. The following conditions are mandatory under this small projects permit.
Conditions:
1. Since the proposed earthwork will be dug by hand, as well as the existing flat topography and
distance to wetland resource area, erosion controls are not required. However, the NACC
reservcs the right to impose the use of erosion controls (hay bales & / or silt fence) if the site
exhibits erosion, or any noticeable degradation of surface water quality discharging from the site.
Should the erosion control be required by the NACC or the Conservation Department, they

shall be installed within 48 hours of the request. The erosion control barrier will be properly
installed (silt fence trenched 4—6-inches into the ground, backed by double-staked hay bales)
and shall be inspected and approved by the Conservation Department. These temporary
erosion control measures shall remain intact until all disturbed areas have been permanently
stabilized to prevent erosion. All erosion prevention and sedimentation protection measures
found necessary during construction shall be implemented at the direction of the Department or
the NACC.
2. Accepted engineering and constriction standards and procedures shall be followed in the
completion of the project.
3. Upon completion of the approved project and site stabilization, the Conservation
Department shall be contacted to conduct a final inspection.
4. This small projects permit shall expire on November 1, 2007.

Homeowner plans to attach screened porch to back of residence—estimated dimensional size
12 X 20 ( 240 sq. ft.
41 Floor joists (pressure treated) for this addition to be supported by 6 hand dug sonotube
concrete forms approximately 2 %2 feet off ground and roof line of structure no higher than the
existing finished den to which porch will be attached.
The screened porch will be three-season in nature with no utilities for plumbing and heating
and will not compromise existing property setbacks.
