Influenza: 68 Quadrivalent doses& 124 Stote doses remaining
■ Office clinic held the Tuesday before Thanksgiving: 23 people seen
■ Walk in flu shots
■ Data entry/inventory, pre-order for next year, influenza webinar
Meetings:

Projects:
■ Library Lecture Series-collaboration with Library for flyer
o Local nutritionist planned for January 10th @ 6p at Stevens Memorial Library
• Planning for February topic/speaker
■ Running Series-initiating paperwork, extending deadline, meeting with Brian and Eric, coordination with youth

■ Blood Drive-possibly in March at the Senior Center
■ Cholesterol Screening-distribution of flyers to Senior Housing, coordinating appointments
o Testing planned for second and fourth Wednesdays @ Senior Center from 10-11:30

o Updating our policy and flyer for general understanding and resources

o Looking into ordering both Prevnar13 and Pneumovax23 this month

o Looking into general recommendations,vaccine availability and costs, and potential reimbursement

Timeline:

° October 2S, 2017: ACIP (Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices)voted on vaccination
recommendations.
• Recommended for the prevention of herpes zoster and related complications for immunocompetent
adults aged 5Oand older.
n Recommended for the prevention of herpes zoster and related complications for immunocompetent
adults who previously received zoster vaccine live.
o Preferred over Zoster Vaccine Live (ZVL)for the prevention of herpes zoster and related complications,

In clinical trials:
o Side effects: most common was mild tumoderate pain where the shot was given. Other side effects

were pain, redness,swelling atinjection site.Also muscle pain,fatigue,fever, nausea,vomiting,
diarrhea, headache and shivering. Side effects lasted 1-Zdays.

* Protection of86%orabove was maintained for 4years after vaccination

Once approved by CDC,the shingles vaccination recommendations will be published in the MMWR (Morbidity
and Mortality Weekly Report), at which time the recommendations will become official CDC policy.
