The board discussed this matter and a motion was made amd seconded and it
was voted that the clerk' s compensation be increased to $12.50 per month

The meeting was called to order by Secretary Nicholas Nicetta, in the
absence of the Chairman~ at $:10 P.M. in the Town Buildim~~
Members present: Secretary Nicholas Nicettaj Richard. G. Whipple and
Frank G. Driscoll. ~
A petition was ~ceived from the Mass. Dept of Public Utilities for
the Lawrence Gas & Electric Co. requesting that certain lands and a
substation be erected and maintained on Pleasant Street. A Public
Hearing to be held at the State House en We'd. May 20j 1953.
Motion was made and seconded and it was un~mous~l~ VOTED that the
Board go on record as~ tentatively and info~rmally approve ~f the le'catiing
of a substation by the Lawrence Gas & Electric Co. on Pleasant Street.
Three estimates of prices were received for the printing of the Zoning
By-Iaws pamphlets. The Bee Publishing Compan~$79.50 for 500 copies
The N~man Press------$94.00 for 500 copies and the Boynton Press----
$90.60 for 500 copies. The board VOTED unanimously to ?ccept the price
of the Bee Publishing Compar~ but also voted to hold up on the printing
for another month due to the fact that they wished to discuss the
possibility 'of revising the By-Laws in the near future. This matter will
be discussed at the next meeting when all members of the Board will be
~resent..
Motion ~s made and seconded and it was voted to adjourn the Planning. Board
meeting at 7:45 P.M. in order to meet as the Industrial Planning Board.
In addition to the above members of the Planning Board' who were Present,
Mr. Fred Doyle of the Board of Trade and Mr. Nenry E. Lu~d joined with
the Planning board to hear Mr. A.T.Schn~dt, Executive Secretary of the
Lawrence Chamber of Comerce.
An informal discussion was held with Mr. Schmidt regarding ~hat steps
could be taken to chose and select sites for future develo~ment of industry
in the Town~ Since so m~ny of the persons invited to attend this meeting as
associate members of the Industrial Planning Board could' not be present at
this meeting, it was decided that no definite decisions should be made at
this time. Another meeting will be planned in the near future when more
members can attend. Meeting wa~ adjourned at. 9:15
