The project we are planning for our property, located at 777 Johnson Street, North Andover, partially falls within 100 feet of wetlands. The project will consist of tree removal,excavation/minor removal of soil for the purpose of installing retaining walls, and some re-grading of a portion of our property along what will be the top of the retaining walls and angling away from the wetland location. Our property is adjacent to 367 Johnson Street, the lot upon which the wetlands exists. A stone wall separates the properties. Per an on-site meeting on August 21, 2014 with a representative of the Department of Conservation, the scope of our project will reach no closer than approximately 70 feet from the identified wetlands on the right side of our property. The project will then become more developed as it extends toward the middle and left border of our property, away from the wetlands. We were advised to apply for a small projects permit after on-site consideration of the location of the wetlands, the downward slope of both properties, and the directionality of the work we would like to perform. Most notably, the work for this project is not expected to alter the flow of waters contributing to or draining from the wetlands.
