Dear Sir or Madam:
1.The particular use proposed for the land or structure:
We are requesting a special permit to build an addition to an existing structure at 68 Longwood
Av.The addition will be used as family room and master bedroom. We.need more living space and we
do not wish to move to another town or location because we enjoy being in this town and live in this
community.
2.The specific site is an appropriate location for such use,structure or condition:
North Andover zoning law requires being 30 feet for front setback and the proposed addition
will fall with this setback.We can not build to the back or each side of our property because we do not
meet the requirements for setbacks;therefore the addition to the front of our house is the most logical
and practical method to add to our living space.
3.There will be no nuisance or serious hazard to vehicles or pedestrians.
Proper care and clean up of the site will take place daily.The addition will be 30 feet away from
the street and we will make sure our neighbors and pedestrians are safe and in content during building
period.

4.Adequate facilities will be provided for the proper operation of the proposed used.
The addition will not be extended by way of any sewer,water, paving or any other public
facilities. There will be no additional people living in the proposed addition.
S.The use is in harmony with the purpose and intent of the zoning by law.
The addition which we would like to build will be located to the front of the existing house which
will comply with the current set backs. It will be 30.9 feet from the front side and 20.5 feet from right side
and 40 feet from left side which is the current zoning law requirements.
6.Specific reference and response to the criteria required by the particular special permit for
which this application is made.
The criteria for this special permit being requested for the extension of a preexisting non
conformance structure is based up on our appeal on a hardship caused by living space. "
The house was originally built to comply with zoning requirements.Since the time of
construction those side-set backs requirements have been increased such that our existing house is
non-conforming.We do not have any plans to modify or add to the areas of our property which does
not comply with setbacks.We have not done any modification or addition to the existing property since
the time of the purchase(6 years)ago.
Most of the properties on Longwood Av, Hewitt Av and Rosedale Av,do not conform to the current
zoning regulations. For example, our street is located in R3 zoning which requires having minimum lot
size of 25000, however there are not many houses in our street which complies with R3 zoning
regulations,whether it is size of the lot or the side setbacks.
Also through the last couple of years,some of the houses on our street have added additions or
modification to the structure of their houses after receiving special permit or variance and we would like
to do the same. Since we bought this house,we have out grown our living space and we need extra
living space if the zoning board will be kind enough to grant us one.

provisions contained herein shall be deemed to have lapsed after a two(2)year period from the date on which the Special
Permit was granted unless substantial use or construction has commenced,it shall lapse and may be re-established only after
notice,and a new hearing.
