This Certificate of Appropriateness is issued this

Dear Mr. Schruender:
Please find enclosed five (5)copies of the above-referenced document. Please note that only the front dormer
will be visible from a public way. Nevertheless, two design versions of the proposed rear dormer have been
provided. A final selection will be made by the owner based on several criteria to be determined in the field.
Copies of the engineers'reports will be made available for the members of the commission to review should
they desire to do so at the meeting on June 29, at 4:00 P.M.

Detailed Description of Proposed Work
The roof and chimney of the house were substantially damaged during a wind storm on February 17, 2005.
The reports of structural two structural engineers concur in stating that the roof should be rebuilt from the eaves
line up. Possible additional damage may exist to the roof plate and window heads on the west elevation.
These areas cannot be adequately examined until the roof is removed.
Faced with the need for such massive reconstruction,the owner proposes to raise the pitch of the hip roof and
add front and rear dormers as per attached plans. Only the front dormer will be visible from a public way.
The chimney will be rebuilt to accommodate the additional height of the roof line. In addition,the owner
proposes to enclose the open, recessed porch on the facade with french doors that match the pane
configuration of the existing windows. Fenestration and siding on the dormers will match that existing on the
first floor. New asphalt shingles will be applied to the new roof.
