The reports of structural two structural engineers concur in stating that the roof should be rebuilt from the eaves line up. Possible additional damage may exist to the roof plate and window heads on the west elevation. These areas cannot be adequately examined until the roof is removed. Faced with the need for such massive reconstruction,the owner proposes to raise the pitch of the hip roof and add front and rear dormers as per attached plans. Only the front dormer will be visible from a public way. The chimney will be rebuilt to accommodate the additional height of the roof line. In addition,the owner proposes to enclose the open, recessed porch on the facade with french doors that match the pane configuration of the existing windows. Fenestration and siding on the dormers will match that existing on the first floor. New asphalt shingles will be applied to the new roof. Dianne L.
