Regular Meeting
The Pla~ing Board held their regular meeting on Monda~ evening, February 5, 1962
at ? :30 P.M. in the T~wn Building. ~he follo-,ing members were present and voting:
Robert J. Burke, Secretary; Howard Gilman_, C,~orge Farley and William Chepulis~ Jr.
Mr. Bamnan did not attend because of 111~ess. Mr. Barke was acting
Mr. B~rke read the notice to the Board of the Boston Regional Survey meeting
Reading to be held Tuesday, Feb. 13, 1962 at 8:00 P.M.
Atty. John J. Lynch appeared requesting a hearing for re-zoning fr~m rural-
residential to general business, a parcel of land on Tarmpi~e Street, across from the
Ski Tow. Mr. Farley made a motion to set the hearing date for March 5, 1962 at 7:30
P.M. Mr. Gilman seconded the motion. Mr. Burke, Gilman and Farley voted in favor
and Mr. Chepulis voted no, saying that he still thinks that 50 signatures are required
on petitions for ~e-zoning. The article is ~lready in the warrant.
Atty. John J. W~llis appeared requesting a hearing for Alfred Boeglin to re-zone a
parcel of land at the corner of Osgood and WaTne Streets from Village Residential to
Industrial. There is a partially completed building there and the land mast be re-
zoned in order to complete the building. This would, be extending an existing IndustrY-al
zone. The a~ticle is already in th.e warrant. Mr. G~l~ made a motion to set the
hearing date for March 5, 1962 at ?.45 P.~i. Mr. Farley seconded the motion and
vote was llzlanimotls.
The Board again discussed the requirements of 50 signatures on petitions for
hearings for re-zoning with Mr. W~llis. Mr. Ghepulis says the signatures are necessary
while the other members s~ they are not.
Mr. Burke read the m~utes of the meeting of the Central ]~rr~m~ck Valley
District held on January 23, 1962.
Mr. Burke read a letter from the Selectmen asking for the Board's reco~nendations
on the accepting of the following streets:
1. Mo~s Stree% 4. Fount~ Drive
2. Davis Strest Extension 5. Carry C~rcle
3. ~oodstock Rd. from Mass. Ave. to ~oodlaud St.
Mr. C.~lm~ made a motion that the P2an_~g Board recommends acceptance of whate~,A:
streets have clearance from the Board of Pablic Works and Highway Dept., if the Bonds
have been released and if they comply with the requirements of the Sub-Division Control
Law. z Mr. Farley seconded the moti~ amd the vote was unanimous. A' letter will be
sent to the Highway Dept. for their recommendations.
The Board discussed the acquiring of the la~ near the ~irport for a pla~grc~ud.
Mr. Chepulis made a motion to send the Board of Selectmen a letter informing them
that the Planming Board is in favor of securin~ the parcel of land on Cha~,ick Street
~w~ed by the ~port Oo~sion of Lawrence for use as a playground. Mr. Farley
seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous.
