Special Meeting
The Planning Beard held a special meeting on Thursday evening, March 8, 1962
at 7:00 P.M. at the Tw~ Building. ~ms following members were present and voting:
James M. Barmen, Ch_~man; Robert J. Burke, Secretary; Howard Gilman, George Farley
and William Chepulis, Jr.
Mr. Angelini and his brother, of ~eading, were present to have the Board sign
perimeter plans for the Registry, which they mast have ~pproved before MArch 15th.
These plans are in connection with the hearing to be held for Ri21crest Realty~ Inc.
for a subdivision.
This meeting is held in order to vote on the hearings held on March 5th.
1. jO~N FARNUM:
The Board discussed the hear~ug regarding the re-zoning of the triangular lot
of land ~med by John Farnam, containing approx. 6,000 sq. ft., to change fr~a R~ral
Residential to General Business. The Zoning By-Law requires a Business lot to con-
ta4u 25,000 sq. ft.
Mr. Burke ,~de a motion to DENY the petition to re-zone. Mr. Farley seconded
the motion and the vote was unanimous. The reason for denial was that the lot does
not comply with the Zoning By-Law l~_~d, area requirements.
2. JOHN WILLIS:
The Board discussed the 12-acre parcel owned by John ~ ,rto change from
Rural Residential to General Business, land located on the easterly side of Turnpike
Street and along the easterly line of Johnson Street.
Mr. Gilman made a motion to APPROVE the petition to re-zone. Mr. Farley seconded
the motinn and the vote was unanimous. The reasons for approval are as foll*-~s:
1. The parcel of land is on a heavily travelled highway that.does not lend itself
to residential development.
2. It is directly across the street from a commerd~al ~peration which has been
geing en for ~-y years.
3. There is a great need for business locabions in this town ~_n areas which have
not yet been built up with homes and such is the case with this location.
3. AL~R~ BOEGLIN:
The B~ard discussed the parcel of land on Osgood and Wayne Streets, owned by
Alfred Boegli~. This lot contains approx. 19,000 sq. feet. it is desired to chm~ge
fr~n Village Residential to In~_;~trial.
Mr. Chepulis made a motion to DENY the petitic~ to ~. Mr. Farley secen~d
$.be motion. Fc~r members voted to dany the petiti~ and Mr~iG~mon voted not to deny
the petition. The reason for denial was that the lot d~es net co~ly with the Zoning
By-Law land area requirements,
Bailding Inspector Charles Fester was present for a short t~,~. Mr. Burke asked
him if a building permit could be issued to Mr. Boe~. Mr. Foster said that his
original permit is still in effect, so that the building can st~ be completed, hut
there is a lack of funds. He then spoke to the Board about having the Board's clerk
