JOB DESCRIPTION: Front Portico
All parts of this quotation are based upon field measurements and preliminary
discussions with the owners . Also!, this quotation is reflective of
pictures and drawings as submitted to the contractor by the owners .
All references to design format shall be made to the picture of the
Needham, Massachusetts home as listed on p. 12 of the Coldwell Banker
Residential Brokerage brochure.
The contractor shall construct an overall portico assembly with a depth of
appoximately 42" out from the existing front fascade of the residence
with an overall length of approximately 14 ' -8" .
The end wings of portico framing shall be flattened assemblies consisting of
double 2x8 framing members around the perimeter of the wings with a width
of approximately 24" . From this flattened portion!, the contractor shall
construct elliptical rafters of double 3/4" exterior grade plywood to
match the roof structure as illustrated on p. 12 of the brochure previously
referenced.
All double plywood rafters shall be 16" on center starting at the main house
brick entry fascade and continuing out the 42" depth of the overall
superstructure.
Support for the wings on each side and the roof structure shall be supplied
by double 10" fiberglass reinforced structural columns on each side
placed onto the masonry platform of the main steps .
The framed wings and plywood rafter (closest to the brickwork) shall be secured
to the brick fascade with the use of tapcon anchors (cement) every
16' .
The overall height of the fiberglass columns (with based & caps) shall be
approximately 8' .
The three exposed side of the framed wing assemblies as well as the outside
plywood elliptical rafter shall be wrapped with AZEK trim stock with a
nominal thickness of 3/4" and an overall height of 9-1/4" . All rafter
stock shall have 3/8" exterior grade plywood applied to serve as roof
sheathing . Upon completion of plywood installation, the contractor shall
apply an ice and water self=sealing membrane (Vycor or similar) to pro-
vice appropriate weather protection. A preformedy standing seam copper
roof assembly with integral drip edge and 900 step flashing strips shall
be installed as a permanent roof.
