Mr. Leathe,
I was at the siteesterda to review the concerns you had, with the framing, during you site
Y Y
visit. The Owner related to me that the areas of concern were the non-continuous header over the
garage door to frame the shear panel and the continuous rafters resting on the plate set on the
floor deck. The attached is sketch SK-01 addresses the shear panel at the garage opening,where
we will use a %2"plywood sheathing on the interior face of the wall and block the cavity at joints
of the sheathing to create a continuous.load path at the hinge point of the opening. On the second
floor in the attic space we will add a knee wall on each side of the attic space to continue the
existing line at mid-span of the rafters to relieve deflection of the rafter and limit outward thrust
of the rafter ends. Additionally,hurricane clips have been installed in at each rafter and secured
to the plate.
These additions should correct the concerns in the framing. If you have any questions or
