MINUTES MARCH 31,2004
CALL TO ORDER: Wendy D.Wakeman called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM at the Steven's Memorial Library.
ATTENDANCE: The following were present: Board of Selectmen Chairman,Wendy D.Wakeman; Rosemary Connelly
Smedile; James M. Xenakis; Donald B. Stewart; Mark J.T. Caggiano; School Committee Chairman, Daniel J. Murphy; Bruce
E. Baker; Charles C. Ormsby; and Alfred M. Perry.
Vote to Accept Appointment Process. Rosemary Smedile made a MOTION, seconded by Donald Stewart, to adopt the
rules delivered to members of the Boards.
Mark Caggiano AMENDED the MOTION, seconded by James Xenakis, substituting his proposal. Vote approved 8-1.
Wendy Wakeman opposed.
Balloting for School Committee Candidates.
The Boards were instructed to write the names of two of the School Committee candidates on a card, indicating two preferred
choices not ranked. No one would vote for the same person twice or for a person who has not formally submitted his/her
name for consideration. The Clerk of the Board would tabulate the votes to determine the top two candidates. In the event
that two candidates tied for second place, three candidates would be considered.
Board Members submitted their first round of votes.
Rosemary Smedile, Clerk of the Board tallied the votes and announced the three top candidates as Timothy Pybus with 6
votes; and a tie for second with 3 votes each for Stephen Bullis and Edward Maguire.

The Top three candidates Stephen Bullis, Edward Maguire and Timothy Pybus were asked to make a two-minute presentation
on their candidacy. The members of the Boards asked them various questions.
Chairman Wakeman asked the Boards to submit their second vote for one person from the top three candidates.
Rosemary Smedile, Clerk of the Board tallied the votes and announced the results as follows:

D. Murphy, A. Perry, R. Smedile, M. Caggiano, D. Stewart 5 Timothy Pybus
Selectmen Wakeman called for a Roll Call Vote. Each Board member was individually polled and each voted for Timothy
Pybus. Bruce Baker, Charles Ormsby, Alfred Perry, Daniel Murphy, James Xenakis, Rosemary Smedile, Mark Caggiano,
Donald Stewart and Wendy Wakeman. Vote approved 9-0.
ADJOURNMENT:
James Xenakis made a MOTION, seconded by Rosemary Smedile to adjourn the meeting at 6:50 PM.
Vote approved 9-0.
