The current exemption for "homeowners" was extended to include owner -occupied dwellings to two units or less and
to allow such homeowners to engage an individual for hire who does not possess a license, provided that the owner
acts as supervisor). State Building (Code Section 108.3.5.1)

Person(s) who Qwns a parcel of land on which he/she resides or intends to reside, on which there is, or is intended to
be, a one or two family structures. A person who constructs more that one home in a two-year period shall not be
considered a homeowner.

The following is a list of mandatory information required to obtain a Building Permit for
AN ADDITION/DECK
1. Fill out the Building Permit application completely, date and sign.
2. A copy of the plot plan showing the proposed addition.
3. Submit a copy of the contractors Home Improvement Contractors Registration J
number (HIC).
4. A form U -Verification form must be signed by Conservation, and the Board of
Health (if on septic system).
5. Assessors map and parcel must be on permit application and on U -Form.
6. Fill Workers' Compensation Insurance Affidavit. .J
7. Fill Debris Disposal Form.
8. Fill Homeowner License Exemption form of applicable.
