CONTRACTOR: MENINNO WEATHER: Sunny, windy, 40's-500 DATE 3/31/94 SOILS FIELD REPORT PURPOSE: The purpose of today's site visit was to observe backfill operations. EQUIPMENT OPERATING: (1) Komatsu Front End Loader (1) Small Case Dozer (1) Rex Single Roller Compactor (3) 10 -Wheel Dump Trucks WORK ACCOMPLISHED: The contractor was in the process of placing borrow gravel fill in 12 -inch lifts on lot #18 house excavation. Each lift was compacted several times with the large roller compactor, each direction. Two (2) to three (3) Field Density tests were performed on each lift at various locations by using the Nuclear Density Gauge. Today's test results eventually indicated adequate compaction according to project specifications that the measured densities were at least 95 percent of the maximum dry density determined by ASTM method 1557. The test results were given to all concerned during the day. Please see the attached Compaction Control Summary for test locations and results.
