Attached please find a design plan for your review and building permit. The design is for
replacement of the failed retaining wall at the above referenced property. The design has been
prepared by a Registered Professional Structural Engineer. Please review the attached information
and issue a building permit so that repairs can continue.
Design intent for the wall replacement is to...
i. Excavate soil materials from behind the existing wall and stockpile same on site.
ii. Demolish damaged wall and removed from site and properly disposed of.
iii. Construct new Segmental Block Retaining Wall System in accordance with the
Engineer's design plan.
iv. Return soil material to backfill.
V. Regrade and seed lawn area.
Thank you for your complete patience in this matter. We shall continue to keep you posted as repairs
are completed. Should you need additional information please do not hesitate to call me at 687-6200.

This letter is to reference our phone conversation of 8/19/92.
After having put a sign for my store in front of Quic Pic, you
sent Walt Cahill to tell me to remove it and that I would need a
permit for it (even though it is not permanently attached). You
said that this was precipitated by a written complaint. Public
opinion is unanimous that my sign is not a safety hazard, and I can
only assume that there was an ulterior motive for the complaint. I
would like to know the name of the individual responsible.
Since my store is not visible from the road, it is imperative that
I have an effective sign in front. The two days that I had the sign
up, it brought in a considerable number of new customers, enough to
perhaps earn a profit for the first time in six months. My level of
frustration is high over this issue and I hope we can resolve it
soon.
I have attached a permit application to locate my sign (Photo #1)
on the ground (or attached to the pole) as illustrated in Photo #2.
The specifics that you requested are:
Property line linear footage - 313.91 ft.
Liquor sign square footage - 16 sq. ft.
All Star Sports sign square footage - 10.25 sq. ft.
I would have liked to meet with you to ask several questions to
help expedite this matter, and was some what dismayed that you said
it would be impossible to catch you in the office. However, I was
glad to hear your assurances that you would do all that you can to
support a quick resolution of this situation. In addition, Jim
Gordon's articles in the Citizen and Lawrence Eagle Tribune, give
me reason to be optimistic.
