As a result, some property owners now find themselves in high-risk areas where they are now required by lenders to purchase flood insurance. We have been informed by the National Flood Insurance Program of a map change in the community for the property listed above. The NFIP requires companies to obtain extended eligibility or recertification documentation of Preferred Risk Policies at renewal when there has been a map change during the policy term that may affect the insured property. To be eligible for a Preferred Risk Policy, the building must be in a B, C, or X zone. The flood map available at the time of the renewal offer determines a building's continued eligibility for the Preferred Risk Policies. NFIP map grandfathering rules do not apply to the Preferred Risk Policies. In order to maintain eligibility for the regular Preferred Risk Policy, please send valid documentation that the current flood zone is B, C, or X within 15 days of the date of this letter. Valid documentation includes: • A letter that is signed and dated by a local community official, indicating the property address and referencing the current effective map information, including the zone. • A copy of the current effective map marked to show the exact location of the property and the flood zone of the building. • An Elevation Certificate (EC) referencing the current effective map, indicating the exact location of the property and flood zone of the building, that is signed and dated by a surveyor, engineer, architect, or local community official • A flood zone determination certification referencing the map in effect immediately prior to the current effective map, issued by a company that guarantees the accuracy of the information • A Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA), Letter of Map Revision (LOMR), or Letter of Determination Review (LODR) that became effective between the dates of the prior map and the current map revision • A FIRMette produced on the FEMA Map Service Center web site that shows the flood zone of the building on the map in effect immediately prior to the current effective map. FD 00 50 000024(1:3):64426.14 i While the map changes more accurately reflect a property's flood risk, FEMA recognizes the financial hardship that a Special Flood Hazard Area designation may place on individuals in newly identified high- risk flood zones. Consequently, FEMA is extending eligibility for low-cost Preferred Risk Flood Insurance Policies for qualifying properties. Existing policies on remapped properties that meet certain loss history requirements may qualify for a 2 year extension in the Preferred Risk Policy beginning at the next renewal after January 1, 2011. To take advantage of this opportunity or to determine if you are eligible, YOU MUST TAKE ACTION and provide documentation showing that your property was remapped into the Special Flood Hazard Area. If Valid documentation is not received, the Preferred Risk Policy will expire on its renewal anniversary and a premium billing notice will be sent for a Standard Policy under separate cover. If you have any questions regarding this action, please call our Customer Service Department at 1-800- 638-6620 or your agent.
