Subject: Hydraulic-od spill ur front cf 416 Cfiestnut Std--
Jen,
Since you're listed as the"Conservation Administrator"and no one from your dept was available earlier today, l
wanted to let you know about the hydraulic oil spill the FD responded to on Chestnut St this morning. We were
requested to respond at 1113 hrs to 416 Chestnut St for a hydraulic leak. When we arrived we found an aerial
bucket truck belonging to Davey Tree of Kent Ohio parked on the side of the road. The crew reports a hydraulic
line disconnected from the PTO for some unknown reason and spilled fluid on the street and shoulder. They shut
the truck down but were unable to control the leak until the pressure in the system subsided. Eventually they
jammed a stick in the line and were able to control the leak. On our arrival, the situation was under control w/no
more leakage. It appears about 5 to 10 gals of oil leaked out.The truck holds about 15 gals according to their
mechanic. He believes it was"Kendall Hykem Glacial Blue"hydraulic fluid. We requested sand from the DPW and
used it in addition to our speedi-dri to cover the spill and help absorb it.The crew secured the broken line and
makeshift plug w/duct tape and drove the truck to a safe location for repair. The foreman for the crew is named
Richard Martin and you can reach him at[508]294-2249.Any further questions, let me know.
