Page 5 of 14 The selectmen voted Monday night to appoint Assistant Town Manager Raymond Santilli as custodian for the property, which is owned by J. Alan and Maureen Roberts. This action authorizes Santilli to sell the house, but officials hope to avoid such a drastic measure, Town Manager Andrew Maylor said. "We will continue to work with the property owner to bring about a satisfactory outcome," he said. Without going into detail, he said the Robertses face a very difficult situation. The town's goal, he said, is to get the taxes paid. The Robertses' tax bill has accumulated over several years. The two-story house, which has a two-car garage attached, is valued at $532,600, according to the assessors' office. The Robertses owe $157,000 in real estate taxes, plus legal fees, according to Town Treasurer Jennifer Yarid. The Robertses had not responded to a telephone message as of Thursday night. EFFECT OF RESCISSION When a customer exercises his right to rescind by use of this form or otherwise,under paragraph(a)of Section 226.9 of Regulation Z of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System,he is not liable for any finance or other charge,and any security interest becomes void upon such a rescission. Within 20 days after receipt of a notice of rescission,the creditor shall return to the customer any money or property given as earnest money,down payment money,or otherwise,and shall take any action necessary or appropriate to reflect the termination of any security interest created under the transaction.
