Dear Ms. Sawyer:
ENPRO Services, Inc. (ENPRO) is sending you this notification on behalf of our client,
Northeast Landscape Contractors, Inc. (Northeast Landscape), pursuant to the Massachusetts
Contingency Plan (MCP) Section 310 CMR 40.1400 (Public Involvement). A Class A-1 f
Response Action Outcome (RAO) Statement has been submitted to the Massachusetts
Department of Environmental Protection (MADEP) for the remediation of a release of gasoline
at the above-referenced site. The release occurred on October 19, 2005, from a dislodged fuel
container on a Northeast Landscape truck. An estimated one to four gallons of gasoline were
released to the asphalt.pavement and a catch basin. Northeast Landscape contracted;with
ENPRO to perform an Immediate Response Action(IRA)in an attempt to clean up the release.
The remediation activities completed to mitigate and clean up the gasoline impacts included the
application and recovery of absorbent materials, removal of the catch basin contents, cleaning of
the impacted catch basin, and the proper disposal of the two 55-gallon drums containing
gasoline-impacted solids. At the completion of the remediation activities, it was determined via
the inspection of the release area that concentrations of gasoline associated with the release had
been reduced to background. Accordingly,the conditions for a Class A-1 RAO were met.
The Class A-1 RAO Statement indicates:
• Concentrations of gasoline have been reduced to a condition of No Significant Risk of harm
to health,public welfare, safety, and the environment;
• A permanent solution has been achieved at the site;
• The concentrations of gasoline have been reduced to background; and,
•. No Activity and Use Limitations are required to maintain a condition of No Significant Risk.
