Scott Director (978) 688-9531 Building This correspondence comes in response to an inspection conducted at your property Department known as 77 Edgelawn Ave, No. Andover. Per your request, Health Department personnel (978) 688-9545 sent to your condominium on August 10, 2000 to observe water damage to your lower lever unit. Conservation Department (978) 688-9530 Health Department (978) 688-9540 Upon entering the unit I observed the water damaged areas in all of the front rooms. You explained. to me that during a prolonged rain event in April of 2000 the sump pump did not function as needed and water entered your unit. The areas mostly affected were along the wall to approximately three feet extending into each of the rooms. The rug was pulled back and the damaged sections of the pads were cut out. I personally did not detect any off odors in the unit. The sump pump, which is located in the common hallway, was behind locked doors Public Health and I could not observe it functioning, however you indicated that the damaged unit has since Nurse been replaced. I was not able to confirm or deny the repair or replacement. It was clear, (978) 688-9543 however, that water had infiltrated into your unit and had caused damage to the rugs and pads and that the water came from the common area which is under the control of the Diversified Planning Funding and their maintenance crew. Department You also stated that your son's health has not been good lately. If indeed your son's (978) 688-9535 asthma is aggravated by the environmental condition of your home and the source can be identified as the old rugs, I greatly suggest the replacement of any rugs that may be found contaminated. However, as you are the homeowner, I will not issue an Order Letter to this effect: It is merely a recommendation to protect your own family. Your doctor may also have additional recommendations to improve the environmental conditions of your home. As a follow-up to the inspection I spoke with the property manager, Lisa Allis. She indicated, as you also had, that this matter was in the hands of the insurance company and it appeared.to be moving in a positive direction. I wish you luck in bringing this matter to a close.
