We have been offsite as the rough plumbing is completed and we are awaiting finish. As we have discussed before the owner and his subcontractor are installing plumbing fixtures into our system. As of this date they have relocated 3 roof drains, installed 1 water cooler, relocated the water main in the mechanical room, tied 2 water lines to process water tanks without backflow preventers, installed 1 eye wash station, turned on the water to the fixtures without reducing the pressure (currently around 145 PSI). There also exists on this site several septic systems with piping connected to them running inside the building. These plumbing connections should be removed per state code. The owner has been notified but has not acknowledge the responsibility for the removal. We are notifying yourself and the building inspector so as these issues will be rectified. As we have not preformed this work we will not be responsible for the possible injury or health issues on this site. If any questions arise or we may be of service please call. The following work was observed to be in progress: Observations I , Metal framing at new demising partition (Detai131A8-1) has been completed. Installation of 5/8" Type X GWB was in process and over 50% complete. 2. Painting of interior columns and existing concrete tilt -up walls was in progress. 3_ Rough plumbing & sprinkler work at Toilet Rooms 106 and 107 was in process. 4. Steel stair has been relocated to access Mezzanine Offices. Installation of some railings remain to be installed. 5. New partitions at Lunch Room have been framed. New water heater has been installed in area above Lunch Room OWB work in progress. 6. New loading dock leveler pits were in process of being poured_ 7. New lighting fixtures have been installed. 8. Selective and structural demolition work is underway in the retraining portions of the building. Based on my observations the Work is progressing well, appears to be on schedule for completion during the next two weeks, and appears to have been completed in accordance with the Contract Documents and the applicable provisions of the Massachusetts State Building Code. At the time of the visit, work to the west of column line F was complete, and the Phase I warehouse work was largely complete. Work to the east of column line F continues and includes removal of non-loadbearing partitions, crane rails, mechanical equipment piping and slab on grade demolition. We noted that there is a strip of unsupported roofing along column line 15 between 1C and 1D, 1G and 1 H, and 1M and 1N. We proposed a method of supporting this strip of roof using a cantilever 2" deep member attached to the roof Joists at 5'-0" on center, and an 8" nested steel stud with a track on the flat against the underside of the exposed wood curb within the strip. The depth and configuration of the new support of the unsupported strip of roof will be consistent with the present materials and depths of construction. Structures North will follow up with a sketch to be included in the Phase II work. During the visit we discussed structural demolition related to the Phase II work, including modification of a run of remaining top portions of tilt up panels, the bottom of which is presently 18'-8" above finished floor. We discussed removing these panels, temporarily supporting the intermediate column, and permanently supporting the column and spliced 7" channels with a salvaged and reinstalled MC18 channel. This information will be detailed on the Phase II drawings The completed work and the work in progress that I observed was generally in compliance with the contract documents. In the first phase we would move our Somerville Mass. equipment and operations into the existing 351 Holt Road building. This would not require any additions to the building or site changes. Thi alterations that we would need to do to the current site would be to add the foundations needed for additional -external equipment necessary for our process support. A -1.1 -of --hese structures would-be located,adjacent to -the -existing building. This phase of the project will take approximately twelve months to complete. The second phase of this project would commence one to five years after the first phase is completed. This phase will require building and paving additions at the site. It is our intent to file for the necessary permits for phase two once a plan and time line are finalized.
