A leakage test for the Welded Kitchen exhaust ductwork
was performed on all longitudinal seams and transverse
joints utilizing the following method.
MAGNAFLUX SPOTCHECK
DEVELOPER
SPOTCHECK is a RED VISIBLE nondestructive test method for
Liquid Penetrant Inspections (LPI). This type of inspection is one
of the most widely used methods that reveal SURFACE cracks
and other discontinuities in virtually any NON -POROUS material
both ferrous and non-ferrous.
FEATURES and BENEFITS
• Ideal for applications where portability is required
• Very economical when compared to other nondestructive methods
• Vivid red color that permits daylight inspection
• Meets major specifications, both military and nuclear
• Manufactured with high quality solvents that will produce the smallest
indications that may be missed by other products
• ISO 9000 certified manufacturing facility
APPLICATIONS
SPOTCHECK provides accurate, reliable crack detection results in
the following applications:
• Automotive parts
• Welds
• Castings
• Forgings
• Leak Testing
• Power Plant Inspections
• Pressure Vessels
• Aircraft Maintenance (in some non-critical applications)
• Marine Maintenance
• Petroleum Pipelines
• General Metalwork
Upon completion of the leakage test, a light test was also
performed by passing an open 100 watt lamp through the inside
of the entire duct system.
TEST RESULTS
All seams and joints were visually inspected on the outside to determine if any light
was emitting through the welds. No leaks were detected during either testing
method.
