This addendum shall supplement, amend and become part of the bid documents. Bid Documents are the Contract Documents, Drawings and Specifications, for the North Andover Central Fire Station dated August 28, 2014. All bids and the construction contract shall be based on these modifications. 1.2 PROCEDURES A. The attention of bidders submitting proposals for the above subject project is called to the following addendum to the specifications and drawings. The items set forth herein, whether of omission, addition, substitution, or clarifications are all to be included in and form a part of the proposal submitted. B. THE NUMBER OF THIS ADDENDUM (1 ) MUST BE ENTERED IN THE APPROPRIATE SPACE "B" PROVIDED AFTER THE WORD "NUMBERS" OF THE CONTRACT FORM ENTITLED "FORM FOR GENERAL BID," AND IN SPACE "B" OF THE "FORM FOR SUB - BID." 1.3 RELATED WORK A. Bidder Question: Please provide completion date and whether there are Liquidated Damages for this project. Response: Project Completion and Liquidated Damages are addressed in Revised Section 01 1000 SUMMARY, 1.13. B. Bidder Question: Would D&S consider an alternate transaction window for the interior window specified? Response: Interior window shall remain as specified in Section 08 44 13. C. Bidder Question: Please clarify glass thickness noted on Sheet A7.2, details 3, 4, 7 and 8. Response: Refer to revised sheet A7.1 and revisions to detail notes for Sheet A7.2 D. Bidder Question: Clarification of ACT #1 and location for ACT #2 as specified in Section 09 51 00. Response: Refer to revision to Specification Section 09 5100 contained in this Addendum and location for ACT #2 shown on SKA3. E. Bidder Question: Can a Canton, GAL or Abell elevator package be submitted in lieu of the specified MRL elevator due to designed size of hoist way? Response: Plans and specification for MRL elevator shall remain per the Contract Documents. The elevator manufacturers listed in Specification Section 14 22 00, 2.3 can supply an MRL elevator that fits in the designed hoist way. F. Bidder Question: HVAC Specifications call for Alternate #2 Radiant floor heating in Apparatus Room. The general specifications and bid form do not reflect Alternate #2. Please advise if this will be included in the bid Response: Reference to Alternate #2 has been removed. G. Bidder Question: Please confirm that ductless splits are not applicable to this project. The vibration control and seismic restraint manufacturer shall recommend the correct connection and device as outlined in section 230548 and drawing VS.1 & VS. 2. B. General: Install units where indicated, in accordance with equipment manufacturer's published installation instructions, and with recognized industry practices, to ensure that units comply with requirements and serve intended purposes. C. Roof Curbs: Furnish roof curbs to roofing Installer for installation D. Coordination: Coordinate with other work, including ductwork, floor construction, and roof decking, and piping, as necessary to interface installation of units with other work. E. Access: Provide access space around units for service as indicated, but in no case less than that recommended by manufacturer. F. Electrical Wiring: Install electrical devices furnished by manufacturer but not specified to be factory -mounted. Furnish copy of manufacturer's wiring diagram submittal to Electrical Installer. 1. Verify that electrical wiring installation is in accordance with manufacturer's submittal and installation requirements of Division 26. Do not proceed with equipment start-up until wiring installation is acceptable to equipment Installer. G. Duct Connections: Provide ductwork, accessories, and flexible connections as indicated. H. Section 015000, TEMPORARY FACILITIES AND CONTROLS for limitations and procedures governing temporary use of Owner's facilities. 1.02 PROJECT IDENTIFICATION AND DESCRIPTION OF WORK OF THE CONTRACT A. Project Identification: The name of the Project on Contract Documents is the NORTH ANDOVER CENTRAL FIRE STATION, located in North Andover, Massachusetts. B. Description of Work of the Contract: The Town of North Andover, Massachusetts is proposing to construct a new 14,500 SF Fire Station. Refer to Drawings and Specifications for scope of work. The Central Fire Station is a new 14,500 SF steel frame building with brick veneer and cement fiber board siding. The building will include a public lobby, a training room, fire administration offices and a four bay apparatus room on the first floor. The second floor will include fire fighter's living quarters, a fitness room and storage. A two stop elevator will serve the two floors. The site work will include excavation and filling as called for, shown, and detailed on the Contract Documents, new paved driveways and parking for visitors, fire administration staff and fire fighters, concrete sidewalks and pads for new equipment as well as new drainage structures and infiltration structures. 1.03 TYPE OF CONTRACT A. Project will be constructed under a single prime contract. 1.04 OWNER -FURNISHED PRODUCTS A. Owner will furnish products indicated. The Work includes providing support systems to receive Owner's equipment and making plumbing, mechanical, and electrical connections. 1. Owner will arrange for and deliver Shop Drawings, Product Data, and Samples of Addendum No. 1 SUMMARY 09/09/2014 01 10 00 -1 NORTH ANDOVER CENTRAL FIRE STATION North Andover, Massachusetts 01845 Project No. 1304.00 Owner -Furnished Items to Contractor. 2. Owner will arrange and pay for delivery of Owner -furnished items according to Contractor's Construction Schedule. 3. After delivery, Owner will inspect delivered items for damage. Contractor shall be present for and assist in Owner's inspection. 4. If Owner -furnished items are damaged, defective, or missing, Owner will arrange for replacement. 5. Owner will arrange for manufacturer's field services and for delivery of copies of manufacturer's warranties to Contractor. 6. Owner will furnish Contractor the earliest possible delivery date for Owner -furnished products. Using Owner -furnished earliest possible delivery dates, Contractor shall designate delivery dates of Owner -furnished items in Contractor's Construction Schedule. 7. Contractor shall review Shop Drawings, Product Data, and Samples and return them to Architect noting discrepancies or anticipated problems in use of product. 8. Contractor is responsible for receiving, unloading, and handling Owner -furnished items at Project site. 9. Contractor is responsible for protecting Owner -furnished items from damage during storage and handling, including damage from exposure to the elements. 10. If Owner -furnished items are damaged as a result of Contractor's operations, Contractor shall repair or replace them. 11. Contractor shall install and otherwise incorporate Owner -furnished items into the Work. 12. Contractor shall install and otherwise incorporate Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing work to Owner -furnished items per manufacturer's specifications. B. List of Owner -Furnished Products: 1. Products within FF&E contract. 2. Landscaping and some Hardscaping. 1.05 WORK UNDER OTHER CONTRACTS A. General: Cooperate and coordinate fully with separate contractors so work on those contracts may be carried out smoothly, without interfering with or delaying work under this Contract. General Contractor on this Contract shall be responsible for coordination. Coordinate the Work of this Contract with work performed under separate contracts. B. Owner will award separate contract(s) for the following construction operations at Project site. Those operations will be conducted simultaneously with work under this Contract. 1. FF&E 2. IT and AV equipment installation. 3. Zetron public safety communication system 4. Communication equipment and installation 5. CATV equipment and installation C. Contractor shall install and otherwise incorporate Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing work to items installed under other Contracts per manufacturer's specifications. 1.06 OWNER'S OCCUPANCY REQUIREMENTS IN AREAS OF COMPLETED CONSTRUCTION A. Owner Occupancy of Completed Areas of Construction: Owner reserves the right to occupy and to place and install equipment in completed areas of building, before Substantial Completion, provided such occupancy does not interfere with completion of the Work. Such placement of equipment and partial occupancy shall not constitute acceptance of the total Work. Architect will prepare a Certificate of Substantial Completion for each specific portion of the Work to be occupied before Owner occupancy. 2. Obtain a Certificate of Occupancy from authorities having jurisdiction before Owner occupancy. 3. Before partial Owner occupancy, Owner may require that mechanical and electrical systems be fully operational, and required tests and inspections be successfully completed. On occupancy, Owner will operate and maintain mechanical and electrical systems serving occupied portions of building. 4. On occupancy, Owner will assume responsibility for maintenance and custodial service for occupied portions of building. 5. All warranties shall commence on Date of Substantial Completion. 1.07 WORK RESTRICTIONS A. On -Site Work Hours: Work hour restrictions will be governed by the rules and regulations of the Town of North Andover, and include Noise Restrictions and Hours of Work. 1. Typical Work Hours: 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday and 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday. Unless coordinated with Owner, no overtime or premium time will be permitted without prior written authorization. 2. Construction Traffic. No vehicles may be parked or standing on Prescott Street . 3. All worker parking shall be on the site. B. Existing Utility Interruptions: Do not interrupt utilities serving facilities occupied by Owner or others unless permitted under the following conditions and then only after arranging to provide temporary utility services according to requirements indicated: 1. Notify Architect and Owner not less than two business days in advance of proposed utility interruptions. 2. Do not proceed with utility interruptions without Owner's written permission. 3. Refer to Coordination plan in Construction Documents. C. General Contractor Must be Present: No work, including work by any subcontractor shall occur on site without the presence of the Senior Supervisor or higher authority from the General Contractor. D. Advertisement Restrictions: No mention of the Owner's name or this Project shall be made in any advertising or articles in any publication relating to the Project without the prior approval of the copy and written permission of the Owner. All notices shall be in accordance with Owner's Nondisclosure Agreement, if applicable. 1.08 USE OF PREMISES A. The Owner will not occupy existing site during work of this Contract, but will occupy existing adjacent buildings at all times during construction operations. B. Use of Site: Limit use of premises to areas within the Contract limits indicated. Do not disturb portions of Project site beyond areas in which the Work is indicated. 1. Roadways, Driveways and Entrances: Keep Chickering Road and Prescott Street clear and available to the Public and emergency vehicles at all times. Do not use these areas for parking or storage of materials. C. SANITATION: Use special care in maintaining the Work areas free from food debris and food wrappers. Provide covered trash containers and be responsible for the sanitary collection and prompt removal of such trash in these containers from the site on a daily basis. FLAMMABLE LIQUID STORAGE: All flammable liquids and/or gas shall be stored and used in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations. E. ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES: Alcoholic beverages shall not be brought to or consumed on the premises. Intoxicated personnel will not be permitted on the premises. F. SECURITY: Contractors shall be responsible for security of their own materials from theft and vandalism. This includes the personal tools and materials of persons working for the Contractor and subcontractors, even when stored in the Owner's buildings. Contractors are responsible for video monitoring the project site as described in the Weston Security Standard Operating Procedure included in this specification. G. The Contractor shall be responsible for excluding all but authorized personnel from work sites. 1.09 JOB CONDITIONS A. Prior to doing any digging on Owner's property, the Contractor must ensure all underground services are properly located. Provide minimum 48 hour notice when requesting Owner personnel to locate Owner owned utilities. B. Job sites are to be maintained clean and free from trash and debris. Construction materials will be maintained neatly stacked and stored in designated areas. Do not store materials on lawns, in flower beds or under trees. 1.10 SPECIFICATION FORMATS AND CONVENTIONS A. Specification Format: The Specifications are organized into Divisions and Sections using the 2004 format CSI/CSC's "MasterFormat" numbering system. 1. Section Identification: The Specifications use Section numbers and titles to help cross- referencing in the Contract Documents. Sections in the Project Manual are in numeric sequence; however, the sequence is incomplete because all available Section numbers are not used. Consult the table of contents at the beginning of the Project Manual to determine numbers and names of Sections in the Contract Documents. 2. Division 1: Sections in Division 1 govern the execution of the Work of all Sections in the Specifications. B. Specification Content: The Specifications use certain conventions for the style of language and the intended meaning of certain terms, words, and phrases when used in particular situations. These conventions are as follows: Abbreviated Language: Language used in the Specifications and other Contract Documents is abbreviated. Words and meanings shall be interpreted as appropriate. Words implied, but not stated, shall be inferred as the sense requires. Singular words shall be interpreted as plural, and plural words shall be interpreted as singular where applicable as the context of the Contract Documents indicates. Imperative mood and streamlined language are generally used in the Specifications. Requirements expressed in the imperative mood are to be performed by Contractor. Occasionally, the indicative or subjunctive mood may be used in the Section Text for clarity to describe responsibilities that must be fulfilled indirectly by Contractor or by others when so noted. a. The Contractor will not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, religion, sex, age or national origin. B. The Contractor will, in all solicitations or advertisements for employees placed by or on behalf of the contractor, state that all applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, or national origin; or that it is an "Equal Opportunity Employer". C. The Contractor will take affirmative action to ensure that applicants are employed, and that employees are treated fairly during employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, age or national origin. Such action shall include, but not be limited to the following: Employment, upgrading, demotion, or transfer; recruitment, or recruitment advertising; layoff or termination; rates of pay or other forms of compensation; and selection for training, including apprenticeship. D. It is the Contractor's responsibility to ensure the security of the job site. The Owner will not be held liable for missing or damaged materials, tools or equipment. E. Project workforce shall be in compliance with the Massachusetts Criminal Offender Records Information (CORI) statutes. A CORI information form is attached at the end of this Section; this form shall be processed for each worker, and shall be submitted to allow time for processing of applications prior to persons working on site. A description of the Weston Standard Operating Procedure for CORI applications is included in this specification. 1.12 VEHICULAR ACCESS AND PARKING A. Access, Traffic Control, Parking: Limit site traffic to one access and egress point approved by the Owner, Architect, and authorities having jurisdiction to the greatest extent possible. Flaggers: Control traffic and provide flag persons at public ways to minimize damage to surrounding areas and danger to the public. Parking: Park only on site. Do not obstruct streets, public ways, driveways, or sidewalks. Comply with local ordinances and requirements of authorities having jurisdiction. Vehicle and Equipment Security: Lock all unattended vehicles including construction machinery and equipment. Never leave vehicles or equipment unattended with the motor running or keys easily accessible. Approval Required Outside Work Limits: Obtain the Owner's approval of Contractor's use of site areas outside the work limits. Approval Required Outside Property Lines: Obtain approval of authorities having jurisdiction for Contractor's use of all areas outside the Owner's property lines including on street parking and stopping. Emergency Vehicles: Do not obstruct emergency vehicles at any time. Maintain clear access to fire hydrants and other locations as directed by authorities having jurisdiction. Parking Tickets and Fines: The Contractor shall be responsible for all fines and tickets. Penalties, fines, and ticket expenses are not a valid "cost" of the work and will not be paid or reimbursed by the Owner under any circumstances. Police Details: Control traffic and provide police details as required by authorities having jurisdiction. This is not an "allowance" item or a "Change Order' item. The Contractor shall provide all police details required at no additional cost to the Owner. B. Trucking Routes: Prior to beginning any trucking, submit a proposal to the Owner and authorities having jurisdiction showing proposed trucking routes from the Project Site to major thoroughfares. Obtain approval from the Owner and authorities having jurisdiction. Require all trucks to strictly comply with the approved trucking route. Comply with state law, local ordinances and requirements of authorities having jurisdiction. 1.13 DURATION OF CONSTRUCTION A. The duration of construction from date of Notice to Proceed to Substantial Completion is 300 calendar days. B. Definition: "Alternates" are alternate products, materials, equipment, systems, methods, units of work or major elements of the construction, which may, at the Owner's option and under the terms established by the Contract or Agreement, be selected for the work in lieu of the corresponding requirements of the Contract Documents. 1. The cost or credit for each alternate is the net addition to or deduction from the Contract Sum to incorporate the alternate into the Work. No other adjustments are made to the Contract Sum. B. Refer to General Conditions and Division 1 general requirements for general provisions covering material delivery, storage, and installation, and product substitutions. B. Provide materials tested by UL or other nationally -recognized laboratory, for Class A fire - resistance rating. C. Materials and installation shall comply with applicable provisions of Factory Mutual Data Sheet series 1-28, 1-29, 1-30, and 1-47, 1-90 Windstorm Resistance Classification. D. If requested, assist Owner in preparation and submittal of roof installation acceptance certification, such as FM Form 800, required by Owner's insurance company. E. Unless shown otherwise on drawings, construction details shall conform to manufacturer's recommendations and to National Roofing Contractors Association " NRCA Construction Details" Guide. F. All flexible sheet membrane roofing and flashing material furnished and installed under this Section shall be the product of a single manufacturer, or shall be specifically approved for use with his materials by the manufacturer whose roofing specification is used. Materials shall be high grade, first quality of domestic USA manufacturer with an application history of ten (10) years in the United States. Furnish a written affidavit stating that these requirements have been complied with. G. Roofing and flashing shall be applied by a roofing applicator licensed, franchised or approved by the roofing materials manufacturer, using experienced skilled roofers. Furnish a written affidavit stating that the roof applicator is licensed. H. All roofing and flashing work shall be applied in strict accordance with the roofing manufacturer's written requirements and specifications applicable to roof conditions. There shall be no deviations made from this specification of the approved shop drawings without prior written approval by the manufacturer. I. Where additional work or materials, or greater quantities of materials than required by roofing manufacturer are specified herein, these Project Specifications shall govern. J. The completed roofing system shall exceed EPA Energy Star requirements K. Roof must be approved for ballasted P.V. installation loads. (approx. 15 lbs/SF) 1.6 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING A. Do not install bent or otherwise damaged materials. 1.7 SEQUENCING AND SCHEDULING A. Length of warranty period after Substantial Completion: 15 years. Also provide Manufacturer's 20 year membrane warranty. B. The Applicator shall supply the Owner with a separate five (5) year workmanship warranty. In the event that any work related to roofing, flashing or metal is found to be, within the Applicator warranty term, defective or otherwise not in accordance with the Contract Documents, the Applicator shall repair that defect at no cost to the owner. The Applicator's warranty obligation shall run directly to the Owner and a copy shall be sent to the roofing manufacturer. 1.9 EXTRA MATERIALS A. Provide sufficient quantity of each color finish coat material, for field touch-up work after erection, and pack the additional coating materials with the components to be furnished hereunder. B. Clearly label and package extra materials securely to prevent damage. PART 2 — PRODUCTS 2.1 ROOFING MATERIALS AND ACCESSORIES A. Assembly shall consist of a PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) sheet membrane adhesive -bonded to cover board adhered to mechanically -fastened insulation and protection board. Acceptable products include: 1. Material: Rigid polyisocyanurate board, faced on both sides with fiberglass -reinforced roofing felts. Minimum compressive strength of 20 psi. Acceptable manufacturers: as approved by membrane manufacturer for 15 year total system warranty. Provide a complete plan of insulation installation showing slopes and tapered insulation. Average insulation value over all slopes shall be R equal to 30 min. B. Where shown on drawings or otherwise required, provide tapered insulation boards, pre- formed crickets, and eave strips, of material matching or compatible with top layer of roof insulation. Where pitch to drainage outlet is not attained by sloping roof structure, provide minimum pitch of 1/8 in. per ft., with crickets pitching 1/4 in. per ft. C. Insulation fasteners: FMRC (Factory Mutual Research -Approved) shank or toggle -type to achieve secure attachment to or through substrate, galvanized steel, designed so as not to damage membrane. Provide matching washers, interlocked with fasteners, of large enough diameter to resist pull-through. Provide minimum'/ in. penetration at steel deck, I in. at other types of substrate. D. Insulation and mechanical fasteners shall be supplied or approved by roof membrane manufacturer. 2.3 VAPOR RETARDER/AIR BARRIER A. Membrane vapor barrier: Flexible self-sealing, self -healing, fully adhering composite flexible membrane consisting of .8 mm (32 mils) of self-adhesive rubberized asphalt integrally bonded to .2 mm (8 mils) of cross -laminated, high-density polyethylene film to provide a min. 1 mm (40 mil) thick membrane. Membrane shall be interleaved with silicone - coated release paper until installed. Provide membrane vapor barrier approved by manufacturer for warranty purposes and with manufacturer recommended surface conditioners and termination mastics. Air permeability: 0.004 CFM/ft2 1.57 PSF. Water vapor permeance: <0.05 perms (tested per ASTM E96 Method B). Chemical resistance: Alkalis and salt. Acceptable Products include: Sarnavap SA by Sika, Perm -A -Barrier Wall Flashing by Grace Construction Products, CCW -705 Carlisle Waterproofing, Air -Shield Thru-Wall Flashing W.R. Meadows. B. Air Barrier: self-adhesive water -resistive and vapor permeable air barrier sheet by Sika, Delta, WR Meadows, Carlisle, or approved equal. Air Barrier to be approved by manufacturer for warranty purposes. Air Barrier product to meet or exceed Massachusetts Commercial Energy Code for Building Envelope Systems. C. Seam Tape: High Density Polyethylene Tape or HDPE Tape as recommended by vapor barrier manufacturer, with pressure sensitive adhesive. Minimum width 4 inches. D. The type of primer and the installation of the primer shall follow the requirements of the manufacturer for the surface conditions 2.4 RELATED MATERIALS A. Protective Mat: PVC protection layer or high density nonwoven polypropylene fabric. B. Walkway Pads: PVC molded Walkway Pads or walkway rolls as provided by the roofing membrane manufacturer... Molded Walkway material to have slip resistant surface Walkway material shall be approved by the membrane manufacturer and must be heat weldable to the membrane without voiding the membrane warranty. C. Rubber Pavers: Provide rubber pavers where shown on building roof. Provide the membrane manufacturer's roof pavers compatible with the specified membrane. Install 24" x 24" x 2" interlocking rubber roof pavers over the membrane. Provide Carlisle Sure -Seal Rubber Pavers or equal. Install the pavers over UV resistant, polypropylene fabric for use as an underlayment, unless recommended otherwise by the manufacturer. D. Cover Board: board to be high density polyi socyanu rate cover board, with a minimum 100 psi compressive strength by Carlisle, or approved equal. Board to be referred to as Cover Board on Drawings, and is shown between insulation and membrane roofing. Thickness to be'/" thickness. E. Protection/Recovery Board: ASTM C 1177/C 1177M, glass -mat, water resistant gypsum substrate. 1/2 inch (13 mm) thick. Basis -of -Design Product: Subject to compliance with requirements: provide Georgia- Pacific Gypsum LLC; DensDeck or comparable product by one of the following: CertainTeed Corporation, CertainTeed Corporation, Temple- Inland, Inc., USG Corporation. F. Adhesives: 1. Provide insulation adhesive for adhering cover board to rigid insulation. Use Sarnacol 2163, Olybond 500 by OMG, Millenium Weather-Tite , or approved equal. 2. Provide membrane adhesive for attachment of PVC to cover board. Use solvent based adhesive recommended by specific PVC membrane manufacturer. PART 3 — EXECUTION 3.1 JOB CONDITIONS A. Store materials on raised platforms or pallets, in temporary sheds or under light-colored opaque tarpaulins, well -secured from wind. Each day, verify that stored materials are clean and dry. Protect sheet materials from abrasion and puncturing. B. Store adhesives and sealants at 60 -to -80 degree F temperatures. Should these materials be exposed to lower temperatures, store at 60 -to -80 degrees for a minimum of 24 hours before use. C. Do not install any portion of roof assembly over wet substrate, in inclement weather, or when precipitation is forecast. Protect substrate and installed materials from damage during roofing installation and subsequent operations such as installation of roof -top mechanical equipment, by proper selection and operation of materials -handling equipment, provision of plywood panels for temporary walkways, etc. 3.2 PREPARATION A. Before beginning installation, inspect existing conditions for unevenness, excessive corrosion, deteriorated decking, or other conditions which would prevent satisfactory installation of roofing system. B. Verify that structural roof openings have been provided as detailed, and that wood nailers, blocking, curbs, etc. have been properly installed and are suitable for installation of roofing system. C. Remove water, ice, dirt, debris, oil deposits etc., using appropriate cleaning methods. Install no roofing or insulation over wet or dirty substrates. Sweep off loose material immediately before beginning work. 3.3 ROOFING AND ROOF INSULATION INSTALLATION A. Install insulation with long joints continuous and end joints staggered. Limit joints between adjacent units to 1/4 in. maximum. Neatly cut and fit insulation around roof penetrations. B. Secure insulation to protection/recovery board to structural deck, in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and FM 1-28, including fastener placement diagrams for different types and sizes of insulation board. Provide a minimum of one fastener for every 2 sq. ft. of surface area. C. At completion of each day's work, provide temporary protection consisting of strip of roofing membrane, extending 6 in. onto deck and 6 in. over ends of exposed insulation, secured with adhesive. D. Membrane: 1. Over the properly installed and prepared substrate surface, solvent based adhesive shall be applied using solvent resistant W nap paint rollers. The adhesive shall be applied to the substrate at a rate according to the membrane manufacturer's requirements. The adhesive shall be applied in a smooth, even coating with no gaps, globs, puddles or similar inconsistencies. Only an area which can be completely covered in the same day's operations shall be coated with adhesive. The first layer of adhesive shall be allowed to dry completely prior to installing the membrane. 2. When the adhesive on the substrate is dry, the PVC roof membrane is unrolled. Adjacent sheets shall be overlapped three inches. Once in place, one half of the sheet's length shall be turned back and the underside shall be coated with solvent based adhesive at a rate of'/ gallon per 100 ft2. When the membrane adhesive has dried slightly to produce strings when touched with a dry finger, the coated material shall be rolled onto the previously coated substrate being careful to avoid wrinkles. Do not allow adhesive on the underside of the PVC membrane to dry completely. The amount of membrane that can be coated with adhesive before rolling into substrate will be determined by ambient temperature, humidity and crew. The bonded sheet shall be pressed firmly into place with water filled, foam covered lawn roller by frequent rolling in two directions. The remaining unbounded half of the sheet shall be folded back and the procedure repeated. Use Hot Air Hand Welders for detail areas in accordance with the manufacturer's hot air welding procedures. E. Install roof penetration flashing as detailed on drawings and in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. Extend base flashing up vertical surfaces 8 in. minimum and horizontally 4 in. minimum. Adhere to vertical surfaces with manufacturer's recommended adhesive and properly terminate. F. Splice flashing to main roof sheet before bonding to vertical surface. Seal splice at least 3 in. beyond fasteners attaching horizontal membrane. Take care that flashing does not bridge at transitions from horizontal to vertical. G. After joints have set up, test all spliced joints for continuity by running a screwdriver along joint. Re -splice as required. H. Temporarily seal loose edges of membrane at night or when inclement weather is threatening, to prevent water from flowing under completed portion of roof. Pull sheet free from sealing compound before continuing work. I. Do not use oil -base or plastic roofing cement in conjunction with elastomeric roofing material. J. Prime metal flashing as recommended by roofing manufacturer, and secure elastomeric sheet material to metal flashing and curbs with manufacturer's recommended adhesive. Overlap elastomeric over metal 4 in. minimum. K. Protective Mat: Install in accordance with Manufacturer's recommended specifications. L. Walkway Pads: Adhere to membrane with solvent based membrane adhesive in center of pad, or equal. Hot air weld edges. M. Immediately after completion, manufacturer's representative shall inspect and approve installed roof membrane. Manufacturer's representative shall issue written report and approval to Architect before substantial Completion. M. At job completion, clean adhesives from walls, ground surfaces, flashing, and accessories. Remove debris from roof surfaces. Provide three copies of manufacturer's maintenance and repair recommendations for elastomeric roofing. Deliver warranty specified under GENERAL.
