Bidder Question: Are the drain manhole structures (DMH) water quality structures (indicated on legend on sheet C5.0) or standard drain manholes as detailed on sheet C6.0? There is a significant price difference. Response: The DMH structures shown on C5.0 are the standard manhole structures detailed on Sheet 6.0. B. Bidder Question: Please confirm that video-taping all sewer/water/drain systems is a requirement for this project. Response: Water lines shall be pressure tested per Specification Sections 33 11 16. Sewer and Drain lines shall be low pressure air tested and vacuum tested per Specification Section 33 05 00. C. Bidder Question: Drawing C7.0 has a detail for "Grass Ring Pavers". The plan view doesn't indicate any requirement for this work. Please confirm there is no requirement for grass ring pavers. Response: The Grass Ring Pavers detail on Sheet C7.0 was deleted in Addendum No. 2, Item 4.1, 3. D. Bidder Question: The bottom of Infiltration Area No. 3 is at elev. 159.25. The system requires approx. 6.5ft in height (8" peastone, 18" crushed stone, 4'-2" h Diffusers and 3" peastone on top) plus 16" of pavement and gravel. Based on these requirements and the proposed finish grade of 164, the bottom of the infiltration system must be at elev. 156.17. Please confirm if this is correct. Response: Elevation 159.25 is the B.O.G., or Bottom of Galleys, which is a minimum of 4.75 feet below the proposed ground surface. The elevations listed on Sheet C5.0 are correct. E. Bidder Question: Drawing C5.0 and E0.3 indicate 2 concrete light pole bases located within Infiltration system #3. Based on detail 6/E0.4, the concrete bases require an in ground depth of 6ft and will penetrate the diffusers. Please review and advise. Response: The light poles have been relocated to outside of the Infiltration structure #3. Refer to revised SPI. 1, issued as part of this Addendum, which references revisions to C2.0, C4.0, C5.0 and E0.3. F. Bidder Question: Please provide a detail(s) for the site concrete pads (Dumpster and hydrant) showing reinforcing and thickness of concrete. Response. Refer to revised SPI. 1, issued as part of this Addendum, details on Sheet C7.0 and revision to Specification Section 35 05 00, Item 6 in this Addendum. G. Bidder Question: Drawing C3.0 requires the removal of unsuitable soils below the footprint of the building, under pavement and other structures and refers to spec section 0310 00 - Earthwork. There is only 4 boring and 3 test pits provided which is insufficient information to accurately determine the volume of unsuitable soils to be removed and replaced. Furthermore, spec section 31 10 00-1.3 para C.2 implies that the Engineer will determine the depth of soil to be removed and para C.3 refers to a unit rate. Given that there is no unit rate schedule and the quantity is unknown, our suggestion is to provide a quantity of ADDENDUM No. 4 09/26/2014 Page -2 NORTH ANDOVER CENTRAL FIRE STATION North Andover, Massachusetts 01845 Project No. 1304.00 unsuitable soils that must be carried in the base bid with a unit cost for adjustments. Please consider this method. Response: All bidders shall carry in their base bid the removal of 2,935 cubic yards, removal to an approximate depth of 2.13' below existing grade, of unsuitable soils in the area designated on Sheet C3.0. H. Bidder Question: The bottom of Infiltration Area No. 2 is at elev. 158.35, The system requires approx. 6.5ft in height (8" peastone, 18" crushed stone, 4'-2" h Diffusers and 3" peastone on top) plus 16" of pavement and gravel. This puts the finish grade at approx. elev. 164.85. There are finish grades in this area below elev. 164. Please review and advise. Response: Elevation 158.35 is the B. 0. G., or Bottom of Galleys, which is a minimum of 5.25 feet below the proposed ground surface. The elevations listed on Sheet C5.0 are correct. I. Bidder Question: Drawing C3.0 indicates removal of the existing pavement to the southerly property line. Drawing C5.0 indicates a 12ft wide path from the property line to the apparatus apron. Does this require new asphalt pavement and subbase? Response: Yes. Refer to SKC-4 for clarification for removal scope, bituminous and base, as well as new base and new bituminous pavement scope. J. Drawing SP1.1 indicates CCB on each side of the apparatus apron and drawing C2.0 indicates VGC. Are we to assume drawing C2.0 is correct since there is an alternate for a concrete apron and VGC is more applicable if the alternate is accepted? Response: Curbing on south and north edges of Apparatus apron shall be VGC. Refer to revised SPI. 1, included as part of this Addendum. K. Bidder Question: The quantity and size of steel bollards at the transformer and generator concrete pads vary from the civil and electrical sheets. Response: Refer to revised SPI. 1, issued as part of this Addendum, for layout of galvanized concrete filled bollards at equipment and dumpster concrete pads. SPI. 1 bollard layout at pads shall supersede bollard layout on civil and electrical sheets. L. Bidder Question: The size per detail on sheet C8.0 is 8" dia x 8'-0" h and on sheet E0.4 the size is 6" dia x 9'-0". Please review and advise which quantity and sizes are required for this project. Response: Bollards shall be 6 inch diameter and 8 feet high. (Reference revisions to sheet C2., Part 4, 4. 1, 1, A.) M. Bidder Question: Is Cl 56 DI water pipe required in North Andover? Response: Yes, class 56 ductile iron water pipe to be used per Sheet C4.0. N. Bidder Question: Drawing C7.0 details grass pavers but we cannot find it on the plans.
