Judy,
Per your request, I have conducted a brief review of the 7/3/13 plans for the new gymnasium at Kittredge School with respect
to stormwater management. I also had a phone conversation to discuss the drainage design yesterday with Paul Avery and
Sean Malone of Oak Consulting Group. My comments are as follows:
1. If possible, connection from proposed catchbasin#1 should be to a new manhole structure, and the existing
catchbasin at the edge of pavement moved offline.
2. Proposed catchbasin#2 should also be installed as an offline structure and the extension of the existing 12-inch drain
under the building tied in at a downgradient manhole.
3. Outlet hoods should be specified on the two new catchbasins.
4. I recommend domed landscape grates on the catchbasins to prevent blockage.
5. I recommend straw wattles in lieu of or in addition to the silt fence sedimentation barrier.
6. The stabilized construction entrance should have a minimum 2" stone to prevent tracking.
Let me know if you have any questions.
