NORTH ANDOVER HISTORICAL COMMISSION MINUTES Meeting
held June 11, 2018
Not present: Nick Pelletier
I. The minutes from the May meeting were corrected and then accepted unanimously.
II. 45 ELM STREET- This house is over 100 years old and currently for sale. It is in the
Machine Shop Village area. There was a general discussion about this house.
III.OLD CENTER DISTRICT ZONING CHANGE. C.J. Gangi will represent the NAHC at
meetings held this summer to consider zoning changes in the Old Center. Jean Enright,
North Andover Planning Director, is in charge of this committee.
IV. NORTH PARISH CELL TOWER PROJECT- Keith Wentzel from North Parish has
informed Kathy Szyska (Chairman) that at present the project will not go forward.
V. OLD BURYING GROUND -Inga Larson , sponsored by Kathy Stevens, will research
and write a booklet about the history of the Old Burying Ground (Inga recently wrote a
booklet about the Second Burying Ground which is available at the Historical Society.
Jim Wefers said he will contact Mr. McGregor about getting the iron gate installed soon
at the Burying Ground entrance.
Dr. Slater's project at the old Burying Ground will begin officially this coming fall.
VI. SOLDIERS AND SAILORS MEMORIAL-Kathy suggested that the NAHC
could work with the Town to create more attractive landscaping at the site of the
Soldiers and Sailors Memorial in front of the School Administration Building. members
favored this project.
NEW BUSINESS
I. Paul Hutchins, the new building Inspector stopped by the meeting to introduce
himself.
!!. Miss Field's House, on Main Street, a North Andover historical landmark, is
currently on the market.
III. C.J. brought up the subject of meeting times. At present the NAHC meets at 4pm.
RECOGNITION -Pat Long, has decided to retire from the Commission after close to
twenty-five years.We thank her for her service to our town and wish her well.
Our next meeting is tentatively scheduled for July 9,2018 at 4pm. Kathy will send out
an e-mail if there is a change.
