NORTH ANDOVER HISTORICAL COMMISSION Minutes from meeting
held on May 14, 2018
PRESENT: Anne Ericson. James Wefers, Jan Williams, Pat Long
I. Acceptance of Minutes from April meeting - The members voted to accept the minutes after
one correction was made.
II. OLD BURYING GROND
A. Dr. Slater sent necessary insurance documents etc to Mr. Santilli prior to the most recent
Selectmen's meeting The project proposed by Dr. Donald Slater of Philips
Academy was approved by the Selectmen.
B. Jim Wefers spoke with Al McGregor recently. Everything is in order for the new gate to be
installed as soon as possible.
III. NORTH PARISH CHURCH - The proposal for a cell tower in the North Parish
steeple was not brought up at the annual May meeting of the church. Mr. Wentzel sent an e-
mail to the Commission indicating that at present the project would not be further pursued.
IV. ST. PAUL LETTER - Commission members discussed a Sound-off entry that appeared in
the Tribune and the letter that Kathy Szyska, Chairman, wrote in response.
V. COMMITTEE TO CONSIDER ZONING CHANGES IN THE OLD CENTER
A. Stan Limpert, President of the North Andover Historical Society reviewed the mission of the
Committee.
B. The Commission reviewed the letter sent out by Jean Enright, Plannind Director on April 10.
C.The Commission has been asked to send one member to a series of meetings about zoning
changes in the Old Center. At present usage is limited to housing,religion, and education.
Note: After the May 14 meeting C.J. Gang called Kathy and offered to represent the
Commission at these meetings which are to be scheduled over the summer.
OTHER TOPICS DISCUSSED
A.. The Horse Trough Flowers -Pat Long confirmed that someone (the Garden Club?
)had planted pansies in the trough, continuing Mr. Kulpinski's longtime beautification
project. . Anne offered to write a note to the Garden Club to thank them fir continuing
the tradition ,

COMMISSION WILL BE JUNE 11,2018, AT 4PM IN TOWN HALL
