Second Story Deck Removal and Reconstruction with.Two Footings
Conservation Conditions of Approval, NACC #226
Pursuant to section 4.4.2 (B) of the North.Andover Wetlands Protection Regulations,Ronald
Johnson, applicant/homeowner:, filed for a small project for work proposed at 722 Great Pond
Road, North Andover. The proposed work includes removal of an existing second story deck (6' x
20') and construction of a new deck (6'x 16') supported by a steel beam and two columns using
helical piles. The proposed deck footings are within the 50-foot No-Disturbarice Zone to
Ephemeral Pool habitat but the deck is being constructed in kind and the home predates the North
Andover Wetland Protection Bylaw.
During the January 9, 2019 public meeting, the North Andover Conservation Commission voted
unanimously to approve this project. The project is approved only as it relates to the Conservation
Commission and any and all other approvals should be obtained by the applicant/home owner. All
work shall conform to the following:

1. Prior to the start of construction the property owner shall ensure that the site contractor has
reviewed the small project permit and is aware of the wetland resource area and the limits of the
proposed work.
2. Excess construction material shall be properly disposed of offsite and accepted engineering and
construction standards and procedures shall be followed in the completion of the project. There
shall be no stockpiling of material within 50' of wetland resource areas.
3. As mitigation for work in the No-Disturbance Zone, the applicant/homeowner shall install 3-5
native shrubs in the northwest corner of the backyard (closest to the Ephemeral/Potential
Vernal Pool). The applicant shall work with the Conservation Administrator to determine the
number and type of plantings are appropriate for the area. Planting shall be done in. the spring of
2019.
4. Upon completion of the approved project and site stabilization, please contact the Conservation
Department for a final inspection.
5. This permit shall expire six months from the date of issuance.
