6 Off-Site Visit Greater Lawrence Vocational School: In connection to Town of North Andover Application for a
7 Special Permit—Site Plan Review located at 495 Main Street, Town of North Andover under sections 195-8.10
8 through 8.17 and 195-10.7 of the Town of North Andover Zoning Bylaw.. The Applicant proposes to construct a
9 recreational complex including athletic fields, tennis courts, picnic areas and associated parking areas, walkways
1
10 and emergency/maintenance access paths.
11
1.2 Jacob Murray, Waterfield Design Group: Provided a description of the lighting at the field.A representative from
13 MUSCO Sports Lighting, the manufacturer who Waterfield has worked with on the lighting design for the
14 Recreation Complex. The purpose of the meeting was to view the lighting of the athletic field.
15 • Greater Lawrence Vocational School is not using the field lights to light surrounding areas.
16 • Greater Lawrence has some ambient light from the parking lot to the east and facilities area to the south,
17 but the ambient light was much less than what Merrimack College has.
18 . On the north side the Greater Lawrence field is adjacent to a construction site with no ambient light. At
19 this area the cut off between the field lights and the adjacent dark areas was well defined. This edge gave
20 a clearer view of the impact the field lights would have on the adjacent abutting properties.
21 • Greater Lawrence had 3 poles at 70' and one pole at 80'.
22 • Greater Lawrence had fewer lights than Merrimack College.. The light numbers at Greater Lawrence are
23 more comparable to what is proposed on the Recreational Complex poles.
