The band participated in many school events this year. At each football game it put
on a half time show, and for the first time, the band was invited to play at the Friday
night basketball games. On different occasions, the band participated in many local
parades, including the "For God and Country" parade on September 26.
On December 8, several members of the band participated in the New England Solo
and Ensemble Music Festival held at Boston University. The following were awarded
medals at this festival: Susan Detora, flute solo and Bruce Houston, trombone solo. These
medals enabled Susan and Bruce to attend the New England Music Festival at Rutland,
Vermont, March 28-30.
On May 4, the band participated in the Northeastern Massachusetts Music Festival
at Boxboro.
The group also performed on May 10 at the annual spring concert, and on June 7
at graduation.
Another first for the band was a dance held on April 26, the proceeds of which were
used for music and other necessary equipment.

The chorus, under the direction of Mr. Clarence F. Mosher, Jr., participated in sev-
eral concerts throughout the year. During the Christmas season selected members of the
chorus joined the band in a series of concerts given at the Franklin, Thomson and Brad-
street schools. A concert given by the entire chorus and band was presented in the high
school auditorium to the Kittredge School children.
The annual Spring Concert was given on May 10 and featured a variety of selections
from various periods in musical history. As in every year, members of the undergraduate
chorus sang at graduation.
Several members of the chorus participated in extracurricular music activities. Ruth
Moynihan and John Newman were selected to attend the Northeast District Concert
held on December 7 and 8 at Wakefield High School. Meanwhile, at Boston University
on December 8, soloist Katherine Morris and a girls' double trio composed of Alana
Walker, Gaye Kouyoumjian, Katherine Morris, Mary Kirk, Donna Kress, and Carol
Rigoli, accompanied on the piano by Carol Ota, won top honors at the New England
Solo and Ensemble Auditions. Carol and Diane Ota also won top ratings for their piano
selections and were asked to represent all the pianists present at a concert attended by
more than 400 students. As a result of their fine performances, these talented young
people were given the opportunity to take part in the New England Music Festival held
in Rutland, Vermont, March 28-30.

Miss Jeppesen demonstrating still life

The art classes of North Andover High School, which are under the direction of Miss
Ingrid Jeppesen, have displayed their artistic ability this past year in various ways. During
the Christmas Season, the Art Department decorated the showcases in the main lobby
of the high school with very impressive scenes appropriate to the season.
Throughout the academic school year, Room 28 continuously displayed the creations
of its art students. The showcases outside Room 28 also contained the finished products
of many art projects.
The Art Department has been most cooperative in designing picture posters for the
various activities which took place during the year.

In order to produce a "bigger and better" yearbook
than ever before, members of the 1963 KNIGHT
staff have given liberally of their time and effort.
Soliciting ads, writing articles, selecting pictures, and +
meeting deadlines required many extra hours.
Intended to be a record of a four-year period, the f
yearbook demanded — and received — a great deal `
of attention. Special thanks goes to Miss Ann Whar-

and to the editors, Katherine Morris and Diana De-

material resulted in one of the best yearbooks yet
