FOREWARD
Each student of North Andover High School should feel pride in this
1967 KNIGHT, because by being a_member of the student body he
has contributed to our yearbook.
A yearbook is a composite of all the memories of a high school
career. A part of every staff member and student is in this book.
Let us hope that as each of us looks back on North Andover High
School and into the 1967 KNIGHT, he may say, "That is how I re-
member it."

FOOTBALL
The 1966 football team displayed the finest North An-
dover record in several seasons. It posted five wins in
eight contests and made a serious bid for the Merrimack
Valley Conference title.
The Scarlet Knights led the league in scoring with
one-hundred twenty-nine points and gave up fewer
points than any other club. Co-Captain Paul Routhier
threw ten touchdown passes to command the league in
that department. Louie Minicucci, the other captain, per-
formed superbly on both sides of the scrimmage line and
directed the defense. For outstanding play in this annual
autumn pageant that is football, both Routhier and
Minicucci were selected for the M.V.C. All-Star team.
Neil Hermann added to the offensive scoring punch by
contributing fifty-nine points, to lead the team and the
conference. -
Coach Sullivan was happy with the teams' spirit and r
drive and was delighted with the selection of next sea-
son's captain, Mike Lynch. •'

CROSS COUNTRY
 ti Aa•" Irl,

, ;.•' 4,' ' Captained by Junior Ron Swasey and coached by
Mr. John Strobel, the varsity Cross Country Team had
r
a very successful season. The harriers won six contests
'= t of eleven in open competition placed seventh in the
e ,
• . ,/ - „. Merrimack Valley Conference Games and put five
men in the top one-hundred in the state meet at Bos-
ton.
Ronny Swasey, Jim Mistretta and Charlie Olpp
were the top runners and leading scorers, along with
Senior Don Tanana and Sophomores Kevin Mac-
Gregor and Kevin Callahan.
T. Considering that the team is only three years in
'" - • • `"' '; :'' `' `' '` '' existence and is comprised almost exclusively of
VW juniors, the record of 6-5 was good and next year's
`,'' • t { team, which will be Co-Captained by Ronny Swasey
' ' • ' and Jim Mistretta, should have a marvelous season.

WRESTLING
Coached by Mr. Howard Crozier and captained
by Bill Fournier, the North Andover wrestling
team erupted for another successful season. The
matmen displayed a satisfying 8-5 record in open
competition and did well in the sectional meet at ,,
Lowell and the state matches in Melrose.
Captain'Bill Fournier sparked the musclemen
with his 12-1-1 showing. Also contributing ines-
timably were Bill Martinoli (13-0-1) and Dave
Castriconi (11-1-2).
Performing well in lower weight classes were
Jon Timlin, Mickey Beaudoin, Steve Coates, Lou
Luciano and a host of others.
Both Mr. Crozier and Captain Fournier were _
pleased with the season mark and the coach is
anxiously awaiting the opening whistle next year.

FIELD HOCKEY
The girl's field hockey team, coached by Miss Ya-
nofsky, had a winning season with a record of 5 wins
and 3 losses. This record is accredited to long prac-
tices which included mock games. The main reason
for their fine performance was a strong offensive line,
and the fact that the defense kept the opponents from
scoring many goals. }
The junior varsity had a perfect 7-0 record, and
had the distinction of being unscored upon.
A highlight of the season was a shameful defeat
by the cross-country team.

GIRLS' BASKETBALL
The girl's varsity basketball team, under the coach-
ing of Miss Yanof sky, ended a fairly successful sea-
tt
x son with 5 wins and 5 losses. The defense got off to
a slow start but strengthened as the season progressed.
As for,the offense the main factor was the lack of
several consistent scorers. The girls had a rough sched-
ule facing the four toughest teams in succession.
Considering the fact that eleven of last year's varsity
graduated, the girls played well as a team.
The varsity participated in a tournament and had
two players, Nina Shea and Kathy Fountain, on the
all-star team.

fourteen girls held four other pep ral-

During the football and basketball

the teams on to winning seasons. The

attributed to long hours of practice and
