Its members, which includes 60-80 students, help not only to compile materials but to solicit advertisements, sell yearbooks, write copy ti and work on the final layouts. The staff meets two _ or three afternoons a week throughout the school year, working to meet their publication deadlines. The group's major objective is to produce a year- book that reflects life at NAHS during the 1979-80 school year. The local journalists won Boston University's "Highest Achievement Award" in a state wide competition. Knight Marches The Scarlet Knight Band begins its long season before school opens in September. Members learn marching drills and rehearse music for their football shows. During the school ' year, the band meets six days a week to prepare for parades, concerts, ral- lies and football games. Each group consisted of ten girls. The soccer and basketball squad was led by co-captains Joanne Finne- ran and Kathy Lynch and coached by Mrs. , Gessing. The football and hockey squad was led by co-captains Lynn Canty and Lori Bush and coached by Mrs. Lee. All year the girls practiced long hard hours to perfect ` ' ' ,, their routines. The result of this dedication and hard work was a fourth place finish for the basketball and soccer squads, and a r second place finish for the football and hockey squad in the annual league competi- tions. Unfortunately for the team, All League Player, Paul Mukai, was out for the season after sustaining an injury in the first game. The _ biggest weakness, however, was the inability of the of- _ F fense to operate consistently as a cohesive unit. Members practiced regularly despite the adverse weather conditions, and the team's morale re- mained high. The local grapplers retained their Cape Ann League, Sectional, State and New England Cham- pionships and added the Lowell Invitational title as well.
