Article 9. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of three
thousand five hundred dollars for the purchase of a ladder truck
for the use of the Fire DaDt¥~and~appoint a co~ittoe.,to purchase.
.~rticle 10. Voted:not to accept as a gift from the teachers,
supervisory staff and other employees of the School Department
a ~ortion or all of a sum created by the deduction of either six
percent or ten percent monthly of their salary payments in
which sum in twelve months would probably total between $5000 and
$9000, and which if accepted by the town could be used in meeting
current appropriations of the town.
Article 11. Voted to raise and appropriate th~ sum of six
hundred and thirty-four dollars for the purpose mentioned in
thio article. A hand vote was taken, ZS1 voted in favor and
A? voted against.
Article 12. Voted to raise and appropriale the sum of one hundred
dollars for the purpose mentioned in this article.
Article 13. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of four hundred
dollars for the purpose,mentioned in this article.
Article 14. Voted that the Board of Public Works serve as a
committee to care for the public parks and triangles~
Article l~. Voted: not to petition the Director of Acc~unt~
of the Department of Corporations and Taxation for the ·installation
of an accounting system, in accordance with ~he provis~ons of
Chapter 4A,General LawsJ
Article 16. As this equipment has been furnished by the Boy
Scouts it was voted that no action be taken by the town other than
to to extend a vote of thanks to that organization for their gift.

Article 2A. Vote& that the sum of two hundred and twenty-five
dollars be taken from the appropriation made for General Maintenance
of the Street Depar~menm for the purpose of this article provided
that favorable action has been taken under Articie 23.
Article.2§'. Voted that the sum of three hundred dollars be
taken from the appropriation made for General Naintenauce of the
Street Department provided this street meets the requirements
cf the Board of Survey and has been accepted as called for ~uder

as no plan of this way has been filed with the Board of Survey
for its apprev~l. The petitioners request that ash collections
be dumped on this street and if there is no objection from the
abut~o.rs action is hereby referred ~o the Highway Surveyor.

$~vey, laying out of Dufton Court. as a town way, for a distance
of four hundred twenty-six feet.

Department of Public Utilitieh of its disap~oval of the
decision reached in the question of the safe guarding of

In the name of the Commonwealth, you are hereby required to
notify and warn the inhabitants of North Andover who are qualified to
vote for Belegates to Constitutional Conventions and upon questions
appearing on the ballot, to meet and assemble in the designated and
appointed polling places in precinct One,Two,Three and Four.
The Engine House in precinct One, the Merrimack Portable School
in Precinct Two, The Union Schoolhouse in precinct Three and the Town
Hall in precinct Four, on TUESDAY the Thirteenth day of June A. D. 1955,
mt twelve o'clock noon, to bring into the elections officers their vomes
for the Election of Delegates from the Sixth Congressional District to
a Constitutional Convention, called to ratify or reJec~ the following
amendment to the Constitution of the United States, proposed by $oin~
Reco!ution of gongress.
Text of the Proposed Amemdment.
"Seetiom 1~ The eighteenth article of a~ndment ~o the
~onetitution of the United States is hereby repealed.
' "Section 2. The transportation or importation into any
State, Territory:or possession of the United States for
delivery or use therein of intoxicating liquors, in violation
' of the laws thereof, is hereby prohibited.
"Section 5. This article shall be inoperative unless it
shall'have been ratified as an amendment' ~o the Constitution
bF conventions in the several States, as provided in the
Constitution, within seven years from the da~e of submission
hereof $o the States by the C6ngress."

therein of wines and malt beverages~"
