Article 2. Voted to =efsr. to the Board of Selectmen for action.
'Article 3. ~oted to accept {he report of 'the receipts and expenditures
as presente~ by the Selectmen a~ud A~ditor.
Article 3. 'Voted that all balances be turned into the treasury with
the exception of the balance~ on ~onds..or~otes~saued ~:'~c' and other
'balances s~pulated by special acts, also 'the sum of $1015.00, which
was appropriated for a water main and hydrant under Article 25, of the
19~4 Town ~arrant.
Article 5. .Voted that each item be considered separately.
.Under item 1 of this article ~ hand vote was taken on a
cut of ten per cent. T46 voted in favor an~ 95 voted against.
.Under item 9, lll voted in favor of adopting Advisory
Board's fig~.res ~ith a ten per cent cut and 162 voted agains=. Finance
Committee's.recommendation of $17,000.00 with a ten per cent cut was
fina~lly adopted.
U~der item 2~,Street Lighting, ll5 voted for a $9000.00
appropriation and 188 voted against. It was finally voted to cut this
appropriation fifty per cent and $5000.00, ~Tas adopted.
Item 57, 151 for and %41 against sustaining ~ ten per cent
cut on the ~ppropriation.

Article 6 . Voted: That the Town Treasurer, with the approval
of the.Selectmen, he and hereby is authorized to borrow money from
time to time in anticipation of the revenue of
beginning January l, 1955, and to issue a note
payable within.one year, and to renew any note
given for a period of less than one year in accordance with
Section 17, Chapter 44, General Lavm. The voZe was ura~nimous.
Article 7. Report of 21anuing Board as progressive and
Committee continued to report at a late~ meeting.

Article S' Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of five
thousand dollars as a Reserve Fund and that no part of this amount
be spent unless approved by a special to~vn meeting.
Article 9. Voted that the town raise and appropriate the
su~ of *.~wee thousand five hundred dollars,to rebuild Boxford Street,
under the provisions of Chapter 90, '~f the *enera~' Laws, providing the
~0unt~'willppaY. a like amount, three thousand five hundred dollars ,and
the Co~aonwealth pay the sum of seven thousand .dollars.
Article ,lC Voted to ~raise and. appropriate the sum~f
four hundred dollars for taking State Census.
Article ll ~oted to raise and appr~priate~ the sum o.f one
thousand two hundred dollars for this .purpose and that specification~
be prepared and work contracted for.~ The present roof is twer~ty-s.ix
years old and.should be entirely .covered with a six ply tar and gravel~.
roof. The coppe~ conductors and gutter: in'the rear should be
eliminated and iron pipe put inside the building, connecting with the
present drain i~ the cellar. '~his will avoid freezing which has been th~
cause of the wall damage. We feel'that it has been neglected for several
years. The rear wall will need repairs and a cricket put on the roof
to divert water to the new outlet.
Article 12. The Question of raising and appropriating eight
hundred dollars 'was put to a hand vote. 142 voted for and 142
voted against and the motion ~vas lost. It. was voted to appropriate .
six hundred dollars to reconstruct the entire cement run and sidewalk
of the Central Fire Station. This amoun~ would iuu addition cover the
'cost of a new water service as the present pipe line is twenty-six
years' old and will soo~ h~ve to be renewed.This will avoid the tearing
up of concrete later. The present cement is in good condition to a
considerable extent.

Axticle 13 It was'voted to lay this article on the table.
Article 14 ~oted ts~raiee~'and.approprl~t~ the~sumt°f ~thir~een
thousan&.~dollars~to be expended for E. R. A. wor~..and that th~ money
so spent ah6uld be c6nfined to permanent improvement such as sewers,
water and road construction.
.J~rticle 15. It was voted that the purchase of this l~nd be
indefinitely postponed.
~ticle 16. Voted to raise' and appropriate the sum of two hundred
dollars to build a suitable raft at the American Legion ~athing Beach.
~.rticle 17. It was voted no~ to petition the Director of
Accounts cf the Department of Corporation and T~xa~ion for an~
installation of an accounting system this year.
At the c~nclusion of this article ~r. ~aloney
presented a motion that the meeting reconsider, all items under . ,
Article five of the warrant which involve salaries and paymen~ of
wages. A hand vote was taken and the count showed 148 in favor and
~25 opposed. It was then voted that the meeting adjourn to Thursday
~iarch 21, 1955, at seven o'clock P.~. ~

The meeting was.called to order by the Eod~rator,
i~v. ghickering, who read the purpose of the meeting , the reconsideration
of votes taken tmder article 5 and action on articles .not reached at
Saturday's meeting.
~r. 0sgood made an amendment to the motion of
reconsideration as follows: That this meeting confirm, and re-enact
all votes appropriating money, taken at the session cf the Town
Zeeting held Saturday, ~arch 16, 1935, under ~Lrticle 5, of the Warrant,
and raise and appropriate money in accordance therewith.
~tr. ~aloney then moved to amend the amendment by
striking out ~herefrom the words'~ confirming and re-enact ell votes
appropriating money taken at the session of the Town HeetingoZ~arch 16,
1955,.under Article 5, of the Warrant and raise ~nd appropriate money
in accordance therewith," and substituting therefo~ the words" ta~e
.any action as they .may deem proper under axticle ~, of the Warrant.
This amendment to the amendment was clearly lost
in a voice vote taken by the meeting.
