Dear Sir:- Re: Memorial Day Co~mmittee.
Pursuant ~o the open statement made at the Town
Meeting,I am appointing George W. Towne,Commandor of ~eedham Post,
G A R, it!s zas~ surviving member of the Grand Army of the Republic
in North Andover, designating him chairman of the Committee;Myron
B. Lewis, presen~ Co~.~mnamder of the North An~over Post of the
American Legion; Harold P. Barring~on,Junior Commander of the
North Audover Post; Charles W. Wentworth, past CoEEander of the
Post amd present ~mericanization Officer. These to be in addition
to the present co~ittee.
This Committee may be somewhat unwieldly this year.
If it so found it can be reduced another year, but I feel that so
long as there is a representative of the G A R he should remain
a member of this committee, and this same reason applies to
~a~tin Cas~y and John D. McRobbie as veterans of the Spanish War,
and that Ralph Carey, designated Registration Officer of the Grand
Army, by virtue of his office,is likewise essential to the
committee, and that hereafter the current Commander of tho Legion
will be automatically added each year and the oldes.t in point of
service of the Post Commanders retired automatlcally.~
Very truly yours
Cornelius J. Mahoney
