to notify and warn the imhabltants of North Andover, qualified to vote in Town
Affairs, to meet in the Kittredge School Auditorium in said N~th Andover on
Wednesday evening, the 18th day of January, 1956 a t 7::30 P.M., then and there
act on the following business:
ARTICLE 1. To see if the Town will vote to maise'and appropriate $7,500.00 or
any other sum to have an engineering study and~epomt made of the
water supply resources of North Andover and carry out such well
drilling or other work as may be required for such study.

Welfare and five constables for one year. One Assessor of Taxes, one
member of the Board of Health, one Member of the Board of Public Works and one
Member of the School Committee for three years, one Member of the School Committee
for one year, un-expired term. One Member of the Planning Board for five years
and one member of the Housing Authority for five years, and to vote upon the
question: Shall chapter thirty-two B of the ~eneral Laws, authorizing any County
City, Town or District to provide a plan of group life insurance, group accidental
death and dismemberment insurance, and group general or blanket hospital, surgical

issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year, and to renew any note
or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year in accordance with
Section 17, Chapter ~, Seneral Laws.

ARTICLE 8~. To see if the town will vote to authorize the Board of Health to
appoint one of their members to the position of Board of Health Physician and
· to,fix his compensation in accordance with Section ~A, Chapter ~1,. of the
General Laws.
ARTICLE 9-To, see' if the town will vote to.authorize the School Committee to
appoint one of its members to 'the position of School P'hysician and to fix his
compensation in accordance with Section ~A, Ohapter ~l, General Laws.
ARTICLE lC. To s~e if the ~own will vote to raise and appropriate or transfer

ARTICLE 11. To see if the town will vote to adopt the following by-law as
authorized by Sectio~: 2lA, ~Chapter h0 of the General Laws. Every employee'
police, fire and library departments as well as every employee in the town
i~ffrmary and everT~clerical employee of the town, except employees appointed
or'employedby the school committee, who has completed s~x months.of c
service, shall be granted leave without loss of pay for absence caused
'ness,"inJury, or exposure ~o contagious disease of by serious illnes or death
of a member of the employee's' family, provided, however, that except when
accumulated as.hereinafter provided such leave shall not aggregate, more than
fifteen working days in any year, and such leave not used in a year may be'
accumulated up to but no~ exceeding thirty days for use in a subsequen~ year.
Such leave not used prior to ~ermlnation of an employee's service shall lapse
and an employee shall no~ be entitled to any compensation in lieu thereof.

670, ~cts of 1955 approved by the legislature August 11,. 1955. "An Act re-
lative to increasing the amounts of pensions, retirement allowances and
annuities payable' to certain former public ~mployees.
ARTICLE l~ To see ~f the =own willvote to raise and appropriate or transfer
from available funds, th~ sum of $1,600.00 for washing, painting and repairing
the offices in the Town ~uilding and painting the fire escapes in %he rear of
the Town Building and connecting the Town Build and the Fire Station.

ARTICLE lb. To see if the town will vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen
convey~to' the abutters on Beacon Hill Boulevard from Osgood Street to Chicker-
lng Road that portiontol Beacon Hill Boulevard existing between ex=ensions of
the north and south property lines now existing at Osgood Street as extended
Chickering Road and the. original north and south property lines with the pro-
visions that the abutters pay for all legal and engineering expenses involved.

ARTICLE 15. To see if the town will vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen
to convey to the abutters on Bay State Road from Osgood Street to ~hickering
Road. that portion of Bay State Road existing between the extensions of the.
north and south property lines no existing at Osgood Street as extended to
Chickering Road and the original north and south property lines with the
provisions tha~ the abutters pay for all logan and engineering expenses invol-

Mrs. John G. Coolidge of North Andover, for.a public school site, .a parcel of
land abutting on Andover Street and Dufton Court, being roughly
shape, with a frontage of abou~ .520 feet on Andover Street, and about feet
on?Dufton Court, and containing about five acres. And provide that the Board
of Belectmen be and hereby is, authorized to act for the Town in connection
with this transaction, and that siad board be further authorized to execute,
if possible, an agreement under which (1) the said Mrs. John G. Coolidge shall
retain the right to u~e the land for farm purposes until such time as the land
may be built upon; and (2) the Town of North Andover shall have prior right
and option to acquire from the said Mrs. John G. Coolidge or her assigns, an
abutting parcel of land fronting on D~fton Court and Chickering Road, and
containing about four acres, if or when the said 'Mrs. John G. Coolidge~ or her
.assigns maybe willing to relinquish 'title to such acreage, or take other
