Dear Marie,
I need your help. I have been informed by our Accounting Department as they
began to process the election checks that beginning with the Presidential Primary
Election all election workers must fill out paperwork to be put into the Town's payroll
system in order for payments to be made to them.
They were not aware of the IRS regulation until contacted by another community
today. Donna Moran, our Assistant Town Accountant, has enclosed a packet of
information that your workers would need to complete before they can issue any
payments. The forms are complex and it would probably be better to have assistance
filling them out. We thought about having two sessions at Town Hall that workers could
come down and have our payroll department assist them to complete the forms.
Let me know what you think is the best way to handle this. If you can contact
your workers or if easier I can send it out to them directly. I'll add the extra time that this
all takes into the Town Election payroll.
If you can give me a call as soon as possible, so we can get this process on the
way. Thanks, as always, for all your help.
I
