The meeting began w M. McAndrew-Taylor reading the poem Day e owi Driving
by Caroline Johnson. our newest member, B. Rawding, would have been
introduced, but she was absent.
The meeting minutes from the Oct. meeting were reviewed and once J. Barker
determines who read the closing poem from the Oct. meeting., will be forwarded
ded
to Town Hall and committee members.
M. Bohrer discussed the Pop-Up poetry brochure he printed and which will be
used to solicit locations for 20—30 minute poetry presentations In businesses in

prospective businesses would know the poems are to be friend)-"family y",, M.
Bohrer will be placing "(word bubbles" on the back page with poetry phrases.

G. I eney described how she went to Goldenseal Apothecary at 70 Main St., N.
Andover and got commitmentas the first location on March 22, 202 at 3 p.m.
for Pop-Up Poetry. She recommended committee members call a business, in
advance to arrange a meeting with the owner/manager; bring a calendar with
possible dates, and sell the idea that it was expected that at least 10
people
would come to the event. Each committee member ber should approach a business
and report back to the committee by Jan. 15, 2020, which is the next scheduled
meeting. If a business agrees, the committee member must, on that day., email all
oth !r members with the date/time/location to avoid double booking.

L. ICarmani shared the email she sent to Teri l lr quist at Foot yoga in which )ills.
Alms uist agreed to be a location, M. Bohrer will follow-up to determine
date time.
Poet:selection for Pop-alp Poetry was discussed. M. Bohrer will solicit poems
through Faaebook, and by using his contacts at Franklin school. J. Barber will loop
into posting the call for submissions at the middle school. Submissions will be scent
to 11,1i. Bohhrer through Facebook. The Feb. 2020 agenda will include a review of 1�he
submitted poems for Pop-Up Poetry. M. Bohrer will confirm with the poets the
date/tine/location of their readings. Poems from adults and children will be
accepted.
Plans for the National Poetry Month reception were discussed. It will be held al:
the Stevens Memorial Library, possibly on April 5, 2020 given holiday and school
vacation time constraints. M. Bohrer will confirm w Kathleen Keenan. M. Bohrer
indicated poets who perform at Pop-Up Poetry events may be invited to perform
at this event, with an open ric to follow. G. Heney will contact stop & Shop north
Andover to request a calve donation.J. Barker will contact Brenda Murphy to E1.e
if she would donate a cake. The Library usually provides the paper goods, water
and lemonade. J. Barker will confirm. M. McAndrew-Taylor will provide the
tablecloth.
The lack of applicants for the IAA High School Junior Poet Laureate was discussed.
M. Bohrer will contact School Assistant Superintendant Kristen Ando, who
oversees the High school Poetry Club, and Lorene Mari to discuss the Jr. Poet
Laure t � positions , and hopefully encourage submissions to Pop-Up Poetry.
L. i armani will make contacts at the High School, possibly Kristen Ando, to
determine interest for headlining Tuesday4Poetry in the Library. If students do
head l i n !, they may possibly be considered as Jr. Poet Laureate applicants once
the paperwork is completed. L. I arnani volunteered to use her phone to record
students if they headline w the expectation that the images will be available on
Pacebook and UTube. written permission is required for posting for students
under 1 . The school may have the appropriate forms, and L. Iarani will inquire.
t Tuesday4Poetry, M. Bohrer will announce that the Poet Laureate Committee is
looking for additional new members, with the understanding applicants need riot
be forth Andover residents. G. Heney suggested Cody Kucker as the headliner for
Feb Mauch 2020.
The next meeting of the Poet Laureate Committee will be 1 1 o at the Library
at 7 p.m.
M. Bohrer closed the meeting with a musical rendition of Simple Gifts on his cell
phone. Meeting adjourned @ 32p.m.
