The only comments I have at this time are that the Zone A delineation should include tyre asks e set from the tributary wetlands as wetlands are considered waters of't,he US. I'm, not sure that it is going to make! a difference for this property (new stormwater discharges are prohibited within Zone A), but it,should be recorded correctly on the plans,. More i rtantl ncern reg ring the proposed surn,p pump for, the, building foundation,, which mpoy I do have a coa discharges, overtand. sed, on my telephone conversation with Anthony Cleaves it, appears my,that the basement level may be below the normal groundwater elevation$ in, which case the sump pump would be operating throughout the year and; not just during, periods of high, groundwater. If this is,the case it would in essence be depleting the groundwater in the, area, instead of promoting recharge. I think further information regarding the groundwater elevation in the area is, needed. I hope this makes sense, pilease let me know if you have any, question's or want to discuss. Lisia D. Zone A is diefined by the Massachusetts Drinking Water'Regutatioris (310 CMR 22.02) as inctudmg: (a) the land area between the, surface water source an the upper, boundary of the bane (b) Ohre nd area W*thin a 400 foot, la,t,erat, distance istance from the upper boundary of the, bank of a Class, A surface waters i re , as defined in 314 CMR 4.05(3)(a), and (c) the land area within a 200 foot latest distance, from the upper boundary ofthe bank of'a tnibutary or associated surface, water body, 2. 1 note, that the, architectural playas, for the proposed arts buftclIng call for metal. roofing and! corrugated' metal ra,in guards, Muth runoff from the eastern portion the addition infittrateld directty via the bluestone drip, trenches,. Can we get more information on the type(s) of metal proposed? The issue is whether it, is a type W*th the potential to, leach copper or zinc - the M,A Stormwater Standards specificallystate that infittration of runoff from a mietal roo,f (galvanized steel or copper) that is located withi'n the Zone 11 or Interi'm Wetthead Protection Area of a pubtl1c water sul, ppty requires, pretreatment by means of a B,MP capable of removing metals, such, as a sand filter, organi'c filter, filtiedng 61oretention area or equivatent. While the Standards don't mentilon the, protection zones for a surface water supptyit is reas, onabte to assume theat the same requirements, should pertain to meta( rolofs, Wi'thin the, Town's Watershed P,rotection Distdct. It, should be possibte to enhance the driptrenches to provide the, fitten*ng necessary. I Sheet C2.010 shows an 8-in drain connection from the proposed bulitcling to, the existing torm drain In, the area to the siouth of the Danforth Center. Is, this a1so roof dra, inage and, S if so, where does that, storm drain discharge? 4. It 'is unclear to me what, the source, of flow to the two proposed trench drains in that area between the Danforth Center and the Dining Hatt "Stu d'ent, Center is. A design detail, for, the trench drains is, also needed. 5. Sheet C2.00 calls for a proposed sump pump, discharging to gra,de, at the, northeast corner of the proposed building. What lis the source, of flow to the sump, pump and is, it consistent with thu lrtent to maximize groundwater recharge on the site'? 16. Sheet.C2.00 also, show's a 6-in, sup drain outlet on the proposed bloretenfion basiri, connecting to an existing drain manhole. No inverts are gi I vien, but it appears likely that this connection would drain off flow that would' otherwise ble, recharged in the, basin. 7. 1 was uriabie to local e a design, detail for the bioretention basin/rain garden. Additionat detait is needed ort the proposed grading for the soccer fietd. Please let me know if you havny,e a questions or want to discuss.
