July 3, 2019 Ms. Monica Gregoire Staff Planner Town of North Andover 10 Main Street North Andover, MA 01845 RE: 02 Saile Way — Watershed Protection Special Permit Application Dear Monica, As requested, the DPW has reviewed the proposed watershed protection special permit application dated May 16, 2019 for the proposed swimming pool to be located at 02 Saile Way as prepared by Williams & Sparacges and submitted on behalf of Maria and Anthony DeMarco. Upon my review, it appears that the Applicant has made reasonable effort to site the proposed pool as far away from the resource areas including an isolated vegetated wetland and the watershed protection district Non-Discharge boundary as possible. In addition, the proposed design does include a proposed infiltration trench to be constructed around the pool/patio area to allow any stormwater to drain and infiltrate back into the ground surface. Town Engineer Cc file 7/10/2019 Town of North Andover Mail-62 Saile Way N � H AN Y ER iassacl 5 it Monica Gregoire <mgregoire a@northandoverma.gov> 62 wile Way Amy Maxner <amaxnercnorthandoverma.gov> Mon, Jul 1, 2019 at 4:40 PM To: Monica Gregoire <mgregoire c@r northandoverma.gov> Hello Monica I reviewed the plan for 2 Sail.- ay prepared by Williams & Sparages, dated May 14, 2019 depicting a proposed inground pool, spa, patio and walkways. 1 offer the following for the Board's consideration; • The front paver walkway is within the 100-foot buffer zone to IVW and will require a permit with the Commission - if the walkway is less than 300 square feet in size, a Small Project permit is possible provided that other activities related to construction be kept outside the buffer zone • It is recommended that erosion controls be installed along the edges of the driveway to avoid impacts to the adjacent wetlands from construction parking/access back and forth • It is recommended that the catch basin located in the driveway be equipped with a silt sack • It is recommended that the plan call out a construction access lane, material stockpile location, and equipment/vehicle parking/storage area • The plan does not depict pool equipment area - this should be shown • It is recommended that the pool filtration system be a cartridge system as opposed to diatomaceous earth backwash system • It is recommended that an area of pool water discharge for winter closure draw down be called out on the plan to avoid root systems of mature vegetation • It is recommended that the pool configuration be shifted to avoid the deep excavation within the drip edges of the mature trees to avoid impact to root structures 1 trust this communication is useful for the Planning Board's review of the proposal.
