The new building will be two levels. The building's public entrance is oriented towards Osgood Street with nine (9) visitor/public parking spaces located between the building and street. Improvements also include the replacement of the existing salt shed, located behind the main building, with a new 8,000 SF structure. The siting of both the new building and salt shed is severely constrained by the North Andover Wetlands Bylaw Regulations governing the 50' "no build" zone. Due to this fact, a variance will be requested from the Board of Appeals for the side setback along Wayne Street. A variance will also be requested for the side setback of the new salt shed. In accordance with a decision issued by the Board of Appeals (No 12274) on July 2, 1974, "the specific site is an appropriate location for such use, that no serious hazard or nuisance is present" and "that the neighborhood will not be adversely affected" by the location of the Public Works facility at this site.
