We have reviewed the revised plan for this location dated August 24, 2020 and find it to be complete and accurate.
Please note there is 1 requested variance with this design related to the relationship between the water table and the
penetrations in the tanks.
If you have any questions, please do let me know.

Revised Septic System Design Plans
Dear Brian,
Attached are revised plans for the above referenced property. These plans contain the following
revisions to address the comments received in your letter dated August 24, 2020.
1. A note has been added to the plan to indicate that a variance is required to allow the septic tank
inverts to be below the water table elevation.
2. A note has been added to indicate that the the property is not located within the watershed
protection district.
3. The pump chamber access manhole has been noted as being 24"
4. The elevations on the distribution box have been corrected to provide a 0.17' drop between the
inlet and outlet elevations.
5. The perforated pipe has been noted as requiring 3/8"-5/8" perforations.
As I mentioned on the phone, I think a condition of approval requiring that I, as the soil evaluator of
record for this design, should document the estimated seasonal high water table elevation at the septic
tank when it is installed so the relationship between the tank invert and the water table can be
documented on the as built plan. A note to this effect has been added to the plan.
Additionally, several notes have been revised to indicate the need for waterproof rubber boots on the
septic tank and pump chamber pipes, and the requirement to vacuum test the septic tank after
installation has been added.
If you have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact this engineer.
Sincerely,

Re: 101 Foster Street (Map 104.D,Lot 37)
Dear Mr. Osgood:
The proposed wastewater system design plan for the above site dated July 24, 2020 has been
reviewed. Unfortunately, the plan cannot be approved until the following items are corrected.
The specific section in Title 5: 310 CMR 15.000, or North Andover regulation that is not met by
this design follows each item where applicable.
1. The inlet& outlet of the septic tank and pump chamber must be>12" above ESHGW or
a Local Upgrade Approval (LUA)or variance is to be obtained(310 CMR 15.227(5)).
Extrapolating from the data at the test pits it appears compliance with this standard has
not been achieved. Either demonstrate compliance has been achieved or request
appropriate relief.
2. Provide a statement identifying property is within or not within Watershed of Lake
Cochichewick(NA 3.2).
3. The pump chamber riser/manhole must be 24"(310 CMR 15.231(5)).
4. The distribution box must have a minimum 0.17' drop from inlet to outlet(310 CMR
15.232(3)(b)).
5. Specify 3/8"-5/8"orifices for the leach pipes(310 CMR 15.251(8)).
Please feel free to contact the office or Mill River Consulting at 978-282-0014 with any
questions you may have. We look forward to working with you to obtain a wastewater treatment
and dispersal system which will be in compliance with all regulations and assure protection of
public health and the environment of North Andover.
