Description of Proposed Project
1665 Great Pond Road
This Modification is pursuant to the currently active Watershed Special Permit issued for this site
and recorded at NERD Book 14636 Page 40.
The proposed Modification to the work includes repaving of the existing driveway, including
drainage enhancements, as well as the installation of a small pool and patio behind the new
home.
A variance has also been requested from the ZBA for the pool, which is now considered a
structure, and will be located within the 250' Non-disturbance Buffer Zone in the Watershed
Protection District, and an RDA has been submitted to the Conservation Commission
concurrently.
As in previous pool installations which we have done within the Watershed, a stone infiltration
strip has been proposed along the perimeter of the proposed patio to intercept stormwater and
provide infiltration and treatment. This patio in part replaces the previously permitted patio which
was included in the original WSP.
The portion of the project within the 100' BVW Buffer involves the installation of a driveway
trench drain and crushed stone infiltration bed, removal of approximately 95 sf of pavement, and
re-paving and crowning of the existing driveway. Protection to the resource areas will be
provided by a silt sock located per the plan. Any areas needing to be stabilized will be done so
with loam and sod immediately following the related work.
This project will reduce the area of impervious pavement, and provide reduced runoff from the
driveway into the BVW, and add treatment and infiltration for the majority of the current runoff
prior to flow into the BVW.
The schedule for the driveway work is for a selected week in May or June 2017. The sequence
of work:
-install silt sock
-cut pavement and install trench drain and infiltration bed
-remove pavement and re-pave existing driveway
-loam and sod any disturbed areas
