Members present and voting ~ere= P~el T. O'Lea~y, Chairman;, William MoFton, Secr~tary; James Deyo, Arthur Dx,,,m~nd and John J. Shields. 1. JULIA FIONTE: Mr. Bootman presented the plans to the Board but they were ~ot adequate and did not comply with the Board's requirements. Mr. Morton made a motion to continue the hearing at the ,next meeting. Mr. Shields seconded the motion and the vote was unan~ous. 2. ~0HN D. & ~ARGHERITA OARON requested a variatian of Sec. 4.04 & 4.3-I of the Zoning By-~w so as to permit the remodeling of a building to provide 4 family ~vtts instead of 2 ~mits on the premises located at the vest side of Main Street; 60 feet distant from the corner of May Street and known as No. 25-27 ~ain Street. · . Atty. Ralph E. Finck represented the petitioner, who was also present. The petiticaer wished to convert in order to have two apartments on the first floor and two apartments on the second floor. The house is in a General Business area and under a non-co, formatE use, this would be an extension of t_ba_t use. The parking space next to the house can be used for the apartments also. There were eight people present a~d also the Building Inspector. Mr. & Mrs. Reid, Alfred Soucy and Rolf Carlson were recorded in favor of the petition. 3idney Bailey an abutter, was opposed, and a heated discussion was held regarding the parking space. The Board found that the house had been placed Incorrectly as sho~n on the plans presented. Mr. Brasseur was contacted by telephone A_,~ said he would the meeting directly. Mr. Morton made a motion to recess the hearing until ~r. Brasseur arrives. Mr. Deyo seconded the motion and the vote was After ~r. Brasseur arrived be expire.ed that it wasn't actually surveyed because of the weather, but was drawa fr~a the Aswessor~s plans. ~e said he would present new plans in about a week. Mr. Shields ,.=de a motion to continue the hearing at next mc~thts ~eeting. D~ond seconded the motion. After discussion, Mr. Shields ~ a motion to withdraw his motion a~d Mr. Dr~mm~ud seconded the motion. Mr. Morton made a motion to take the petition under advisement. Mr. Deyo seconded the motion a,& the vote was ;manimous. Oharles Foster, Building Inspect°r, sPOke to the Board about small lots. ~e says that now two f~m~y homes are allc~eld amd that a certain ~_~_~t of footage should be re~Aired Just as it is required in apartment developments. The Board felt that it was a good idea but that it is a PI-~B~Bg Board problem. Mr. Foster also spoke about petitioners being re~,~ed to show proof of trTing to bu~ adjacent land. Alot of ~-~11 lots are 1~ picked up for speculation. The Board said this couldn't be done. 144 The Board signed the bills for the month. The Board then went into Executive session and discussed the Catch petition thoroughly. Chairman O'Leary asked if anybody ~as going to take any action, mo m~tion was made. Mr, Drummo~ made a motion to adjourn. Mr. Shields seconded the motion, The vote was 4-1. Mr. O'Leary did not want to adjourn. Mr. Deyo made a motion to reconsider the petition. Mr. Morton seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous. Mr. Deyo made a motion to accept the petition pen~t-fl the placing of the h~mse correctly on the lot. Mr. Morton seconded the motion. Mr. O'Leary, Morton and Deyo voted yes. Mr. Shields and Mr. D~m~w~nd abstained from voting. The motion failed, Mr. Morton made a motion to reconsider. Mr. Deyo seconded the motion - No vote. Mr. Morton made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Shields seconded the motion~ The vote was 4-1. Mr. O'Leary voted no. The meeting adjourned at lOgO0 P.M. Chairman Clerk
